Fun mild ride to Piermont and back in some epic weather with the gang. Good to be getting my legs back slowly. No ham & cream cheese bagels were involved.
I greeted the dawn with a super pleasant couple hours in PP. Rode with my friend John who is planning on a CX campaign this fall after he gets in shape to do the NY Century in a couple weeks. Ran into Eric M for a few laps. Home by 8:15.
Rode with the group until Sparkill, then ran my legs through a powerful burr grinder set to espresso. (For those not in the know, espresso requires a fine grind). They would have made a robust brew if my kitchen were handicapped accessible.
Got home, wolfed a berry-peanut-butter smoothie and a chicken Caesar wrap, slept for three hours. Getting from my bed to walking my dog looked like one of those Evolution of Man pictures. (Except there was a small mongrel included in the illustration.)
Thanks to Josh for providing me with company, motivation, and a couple welcome navigation pointers during the grind phase.
For me, it's all about recovery between now and GMSR (with one actual workout in there to keep things sharp). Thank the lord.
on second thought i'm still a bit hurting from the CRCA Throwdown/FBF combo. after weeks of not racing, my limbs complain of the sudden exertion! let me know what you decide, but if it's a harder pace you seek, i may choose to let you do your thing. we'll see how the legs feel tomorrow; a bit raw today.
I'd be down for a long ride this weekend. Saturday would be good, but i'd be jumping on on the NJ side of the GW bridge as I just moved to NJ right near the bridge. Anyone else live in that area?
It's going to be Saturday for me, and it will be a non-hammer sort of affair up to Nyack as I haven't ridden long with Kissena since 6/22. Hoping to do lots of long rides right on through the fall!
