Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

@vlad-Nice to see you're riding again.
Jeff Owens, where ya at?
I got an email that police were ticketing along river road last weekend, at the bottom of the downhill, after the first climb.  Cyclists were ticketed for 'creating hazardous road conditions', clocked at 35 in a 25 mph zone.  $70 and a court appearance.  And this was in part due to complaints by locals, and also by the death of the woman the other week.  Just keep it in mind when going downhill.  I'm assuming they'll keep doing this for a while.
Getting over an illness and haven't ridden much in 2 weeks.  May head tomorrow.  Maybe...
Going to do a slow trip up river road / maybe Piermont in ~30 minutes, will pass BB at 3:30 and GW ~45min later.  Holler if you want to join up: 510.717.6010.
I'll be there at 8am on Sat
Happiest post ever
looking forward to tomorrow morning... see you guys at BB 730a! salud!
We had a great ride this morning, with David, Dale, Kayt and Vlad. Not a cloud in the sky and it warmed up pretty nicely.  Which meant it was super crowded on the way home along the Hudson bike path.  It was good riding with everyone today.
I got home, ate all my leftovers and passed out on the couch for a couple of hours.
I'm in for Sunday morning, but probably not going all the way to Piermont this time.

Any Sunday riders?  9am GWB?

I'm in.

Probably won't want more than 2.5 - 3 hours from GW to GW though. Anyone wants to meet BB at 8, holler.
i may or may not be bailing out tomorrow am...still tbd. might be due for a rest day and feeling a bit run down after a long week. if i do make it, i'll be at bb at 7:30. if not, maybe just a few laps around prospect park or (gasp) nothing. I'm just getting back into training and i realized ive already ridden 200 miles this week which is probably just another week for all of you hardcore guys - but i havent ridden this much since july so i'm feelin' the burn.
Ryan, JP, I'm in for tomorrow at 8 at BB/9 at GW.

Nice ride today with the bunch. I took a left to ride down River Road on the way back and I think I saw JP going up.
@Joel, @Patrick, and @Erika (aka the 7:30am crew), there will be a potential new member joining you tomorrow. Her name is Kim and she raced in college and is thinking of joining Kissena per Anna Maria's convincing recruiting skills. Have fun out there tomorrow!
I am shooting for 9am GW, depending on how much sleep I get, I could maybe do Bradley but more focused on getting to Piermont Stumptown and watching some worlds RR.

thx kayt we'll look out

Hey Marc the Mentor checking in here. I know it's not always possible, and life gets in the way, but I just want encourage everyone here, ON SUNDAYS to try and schedule their group ride to meet at the GWB at 9am! The benefit from riding with a bigger group, with more experienced riders is worth it.

I'm not sure this is happening here this week, but in the past, it feels like there have been like 6 different meet-up times on Sunday morning all within 30 minutes of each other. (I'm only exaggerating a little here) And the reasons why it was necessary to have an 8:45 meet up or a 9:15 meet up were glorious! If you are going to in fact ride on Sunday morning, group ride style, try and meet on the Jersey side of the GWB at 9 a.m.

Related, Saturday's have traditionally been the free-for-all days, when if you must start your ride at 8:56 or 8:30 or 2:30 or whenever, you put it out there and get your takers and get moving exactly when you want to get moving.
Not showing this morning
@marc - good to know and will definitely plan on 9am at GW on sundays in the future. i know i can always benefit from an extra 30 minutes of sleep anyway!
Thank you Patrick, Erika, Tim, Paige, kim and I'm forgetting a few others names -- great riding with you this morning and pleasure meeting you all. looking forward to more.

high point: meeting and riding with more members. great stuff!
low point: climbing tweed rd with a Mercedez Benz 300D Diesel tailpipe in my face. Usually that road is always clear, except today when i arrived.

Thanks Marc...I must admit that I'm the one who initiated a 7:30/8:30 thing today, but we'll keep it at 8:00/9:00 going forward.

Anyhow, today's group was great. Started out with a bunch of people, but Joel broke off to do River Road, and it ended up being myself, Paige, Erika and Tim up to Piermont. Everyone rode quite well, Tim stayed with me through my erratic speed variations, Paige was only a minute or two behind, and Erika...well, I don't know what the hell happened to her - she climbed the hills out of Piermont with apparent ease and then just took off. Back at the bridge she was just sort of standing there like oh what's a few hills and then some serious speed? I think we've got quite the good crew forming for 2014.

We had a mellow ride down Riverside/West End Av. across 58th, then I split off at 2nd Av to head across the Qboro Bridge. A great day all in all.
Thank you Joel, Erika, Paige, Kim, and whoever else I'm forgetting for a great ride this morning!

@Marc, Sorry about that. I'm new here  :)

sorry I missed you guys today, but really happy that it sounds like Kim managed to link up with you all!!!!
JP took me, Stokes, and Dale on a signature wormhole ride.

83 miles. Nails pretty much the whole time.

I just ate a restaurant.
great riding with you guys today! super glad i decided to come along after all instead of taking the day off... i definitely struggled a bit on the couple of bigger hills but i survived so keep em coming!
I was keen to follow Malcomson to a Piermont coffee stop and watch the World's. But was happier to follow JP et al. through the wormhole. Here is the map (I don't have the patience to figure out how to make a google map from the coordinates). I had no idea I was so close to the throughway!

Bikescore(TM) of 271. Is that good?

@dstokes, what do the colors on the map mean?

Glad that I had some company.  The pace was nice and steady most of the time, save for Christmas Hill Road, where Dale decided that no gifts was the operational mode.  Nice move, but Ryan and I reeled him back, and Ryan took me at the KoM.  And Stokes attacked with a Yeshiva bus for cover after we waited for him to get back on.  Fun was had by all.
colors are keyed to 30 sec  power for each segment.
Man that ride wiped me out! Even with the distance I broke personal records for sprinting power and came close to several in the1-2 min range. Slept 9.5 hours.

Who says you need racing to dig deep.  A better 2014 starts through the wormhole.

Now, if I slept 9.5 hours last night, I'd be killing it today.
