@Wump make a good point.

I would add to it that the things you want/need to learn can be broken down into manageable chunks that you can chip away at all year long.

I caught my share of heckling this year because of my slightly zaney antics but I've been working on things like

Skidding (on purpose)
Jumping
Leaning
Cornering
Riding no-hands
Bumping

In short you can take these skills at your own pace and still improve on them; skills development doesn't have to be a white-knuckle affair.

Who's riding this weekend ? The NYC Marathon is on Sunday, so getting over to the GWB (or back home afterwards) could become a tricky affair.

GWB for anyone ?
Long Island Triangle ride instead ?

I'll be out this weekend. In regards to the marathon, I don't think we have anything worry about.

I'd be up for a Saturday ride, perhaps at Family Man O'Clock if there are any takers? Gotta be back in BK by noon.

Saturday at Family Man O'Clock would be awesome (I need to be back early Saturday as well).
What time at the GWB are you thinking ?
I was thinking 7am BB, 8am GWB? That way we'll have at least some sun going up the West Side Highway.
RR and (full?) Alpine, then 9W to Piermont w/ a quick coffee and snack then straight back. No muss no fuss and a full day ahead of us.
Erika - sounds like a plan. See you Saturday @ 8am at GWB.
Hey Erika and Josh, I'll join you for that family man o'clock ride. I'm in manhattan so I'll see you guys at GWB @8am on Saturday
Daniella,

Sorry to hear about your crash and injury. Wishing you a safe and speedy recovery.
Cross-Posting from the MTB Thread.  I'll be staying  "upstate" with the family in Accord, NY (Ulster County) this weekend and ambitiously plan on doing both some road and mountain biking up there--it's great for both.  If interested in coming up for the day (2 hour dirive) to ride either, PM me or call me on 917-579-6580 -- the riding up there is well worth it.  (We also may have a room open for Saturday overnight but I wonlt know about that  'til this evening.)

@Erika I'll probably join you guys for the f.m.o'clock ride at the BB.

I'm probably in for 7 AM BB tomorrow.
Anyone up for going at the usual time? 8am BB.
I'll be on the 8am train departing from BB. Any other takers?
Going to bust these out at 8am. Just saying. image
In spite of Vlads wheel choice, I'll be at GW @9.
Yacks will you please say something about those wheels for me?

8:00 BB, Piermont and back but I'm open to whatever route up there.
Damn that sounds funny

I'll probably be out at 8 at BB
Need to catch up on sleep, so won't be coming along tomorrow.

Im going to bike the marathon route with some friends. if youre interested, email me directly.
Sunday morning 8am BB for me
I'm a maybe for Sunday with the 8am crowd, depending on my charlie horse.
Great ride today with the gang. Perfect weather. Just remember, you are responsible for the person behind you when the road turns up or the man with the hammer comes along. By that, I mean: check back every once in a while and make sure when regrouping that you haven't "forgetten" about so-and-so.
Who'd they forget today?

See you guys at the BB tomorrow at 8am.
We forgot about Ryan b/c he's so slow and smelly.

WDC on a bike ride? WTF
No one likes you Owens.
