FWIW, for those not following the Supercross thread, and this is not meant as a guilt trip. This is meant to be informational. Because I know that if you are not "clicked into" all the forum threads, it could be easy to miss big events and happenings.

In less than 12 hours, the first of well over 600 racers will toe the line at Supercross, the country's only UCI sanctioned CX race this weekend. Kissena mentor, and CX guru, Myles Romanow, has been putting on "Supercross" for, I think 10 years now. This is the first year at this particular location, 35 miles north of the GWB. Anyway, with 797 or something race entries for both of the days, this makes Supercross one of the biggest CX races of the year ANYWHERE.

The highlight of the day will be watching the Elite men's and women's fields race. On the men's side we've got some of the country's best pros including Tim Johnson and Ben Berden. We're missing a few of the other top pros who seem to be taking the weekend off after back to back 3 race weekend days in the midwest.

Hopefully as I type this the remaining volunteers will have packed themselves away in their cars and headed to bed. It's pitch black dark out there when I left and Todd McLoughlin was taking a shovel into the woods to find some dirt to deal with ornery curbs on the course. Myles was sawing PVC piping, Craig & Patrick hanging banners on fencing, and my last duty for the night was walking the course with a dim headlamp, orange caution painting nasty rocks and roots that might not be obvious to racers speeding by.

Plus donuts. Sunday looks like weather straight from Satan's nether regions; but There Will Be Cross!

If anyone wants a ride up (or back, if you want to do the bike up, drive back gig) holler and we'll see what we can do.

Over 100 pros (men and women) will be racing; watching them "rip the Gnar" is worth the trip alone.

I'm most likely out for tomorrow. I volunteered early and left late and gotta get stuff done tomorrow. Don't wait.

Is there a group ride either sat or sun leaving GWB around 9AM. I'm flexible. I'm also terribly slow completely unfit, but remarkably not overweight. Perhaps my Jan Ullrich winters are a thing of the past.
This is the time of year when I do my UFO rides. In other words I appear in random places in front of small groups of people who are then suprised to actually see me and feverantly doubted by those whom they tell they saw me actually on a Kissena team ride.
I'll leave Greenpoint at 8AM which translates to 9 at GWB. I may or may not check in here at the forum because I still hate it and I'm going to keep hating it because I am old and stubborn. So in light of that I leave my email

Whatever ride I decide to do it will include a couple hills, probably be somewhere you haven't been, have a couple places to turn back early, and probably be around a 5 hr commitment. I'd like to be HOME by 1-1:30pm. Bring food. I might be/get hungry. Bring flat stuff.
