Heading out to Prospect Park now for a few loops.  Call me at 917-579-6580 if you're headed out and want to meet up.

Today was my first back-to-back Piermont/Nyack ride. Felt great to push through that phycological barrier. Nice riding w/ Vlad up to GWB & JP for a quick couple miles until my gloves developed a little too much ice for my liking (sweating up the West Side Hway then resting at GWB = big trouble). Split off and spent a small fortune at Strictly before heading to Piermont, refueling, and then riding home with a similarly solo Foundation guy. We got caught up in a group of TT guys in full aero kit rocking disc wheels for a nice chunk of 9W. Good times.

@JessicaSchpero- Sounds like what you need now are Lobster Paws (TM) for your feets.

Keeping fingers warm in this weather can be tough...once you sweat through them, GAME OVER. Some days you'll have the perfect weight gloves, but other days, not so much. I tend to ride with two sets of gloves...when one set becomes too wet to keep hands warm, I switch 'em up.

I bought this box of toe warmers today. I've used them before and I like them. One under the toes for cold days. One under the toes and one over the toes on really cold days. Always over the sock.

It was a pity Erika turned back for gloves.

Now that I own two sets of winter gloves, the two sets of gloves rule is in effect for the rest of these sub-32° days! Along with two tubes & two granola bars.

Honestly, it was a pity I had to turn back, as two days of solo rides wasn't my intention. But thankfully I recognized the difference between "my hands are cold" and "my hands won't ever warm up again unless I do something drastic" before being sucked too far into the wormhole.

Merino wool liners make medium weight gloves more adaptable without the bulk of the heavier ones, down to a certain temp.

@Jeff Owens-  Well worth the price differential for the Rapha.  The sheep used to make the Rapha liners get a choice of viewing a Jorgen Leith documentary whilst being shorn.  Not surprisingly they usually choose  "A Sunday In Hell" or The Impossible Hour"  a/k/a "Den umulige time," but a few have been known to choose "Stars and Water Carriers."  Whichever they choose, exposure to these films apparently imbues the wool and the resulting liner with gritty character, intensity, and elan.  (An unexpected side effect is that the sheep only see in grainy black and white for months post exposure to Leth's work.)

You know what I'm doing when they're is a major winter storm on the way or in progress? I'm going to Macy's to visit Santa Claus with my boy and wife. Because there are plenty of perfectly dry winter days ahead of us for riding.
