I'll be out, 8am BB, 9am GWB, sucking as usual.
I'll be out
Don't worry yang, I haven't ridden in a month and am almost 190. Plus I started running and foolishly did 35 this week on an ankle without an ATF ligament. SMRT
35 what? Cupcakes?
yo fatties,
not sure I can make the Saturday spin, but expect to be out for the Sunday.
Sunday looks like fuck balls. 42 and rain.
I plan to be there and I'm counting on Malcomson to show up as usual.
Definitely.  The bridge for Saturday.  We'll see about Sunday.
Back from travels this afternoon. If Sunday isn't awful I hope to get out.
Ungh.  Alarm didn't go off. Gonna head out later.
Would like to ride tomorrow, but would like to avoid the 'heavy rainfall in the afternoon'.
Nice riding.

Yang, Aaron, Vlad, Stokes, Malcolmson, myself went inland up to Christmas Hill road to celebrate the season, then off to Pearl River, to honor the fine store by that name, before heading back.

Caught up with Keith, Owens, and Rene on North Woodland.  Two sprints on Hudson Terrace split the group and  Malcolmson drove hard over the GWB to keep the gap real.

Thanks for the ride JP.  I felt relatively put together until the very end where we hit those multiple climbs.  Remembered to keep eating today so didn't bonk.

Tomorrow: Depending on forecast, might pull a family man special and head out at 7am to beat the weather.  Thinking of straight shot up 9w to Piermont and back to keep it simple.
It is difficult to portray how thoroughly I destro'd my life today riding early tempo for FOUR HOURS, but I'll try to make it out tomorrow if the weather seems plausible.
I can't decide if I'm a beached whale or a slug on morphine when riding now.

i'm not going very far!
I'm definitely in for an early out and back tomorrow. Need to be back at my apt by around 11:00 so meeting up at 7AM works well. See you then at BB.
I don't want to get up for the early ride. I will plan on 9am GWB and will put on my new fenders.
@Joshua - sorry broski, I'm punking out.
No problem, @David. If there are any other takers for early morning I'll be at BB at 7.
@JP that's it's funny that you describe me driving the pace over when GW (actually just briefly before you repassed me), when you were literally on the front all day long dropping bombs on everyone's legs . Oh, and thanks for the reminder that riding to the Piermont Stumptown Lay-z-boy is pretty much a joke. If anyone's interested in finishing the pre Battenkill early season Trooper Brinkhoff races in Coxsackie, JP's rides are the money.
Quiet over on the Jersey side today.  Exactly one person was there at 9:05 and I waited until 9:10.  Rolled on to River Road, took it to the end, up to 9W, down to Piermont road.  That all the way to Leonia, and then up the hill and to the GWB.  Started drizzling a little before 11.
Rode solo this morning as well. Left Brooklyn at 7 and decided to keep it short by just heading up to the Jersey side of GWB and back home. Successfully missed all the rain which was the only good thing about waking up that early. Saw one Kissena coming at me while on the way back on the Hudson path but it was on a turn and underpass so I don't think either one of us really got a good look.
Speaking of rapha and festive they have a big sale and the shop has stuff they don't have online. Yes I got pink socks.

Sunday Mentor Ride:

If the 10 day forecast is anything close to accurate, this bullshit cold weather should be gone and we'll have a 50 degree day with only a tiny chance of rain come Sunday.

Marc and I (and maybe JP, Eric, and others pending availability) will be leading 2 groups this weekend on a traditional Sunday ride. The groups should simulate what a steady weekend ride should look and feel like for different ability / fitness levels.

8AM Brooklyn Bridge, 9AM GWB.

I'm in for the B ride.
I'm down for sat and/or Sunday for 9am gwb ride.

8 BB Sunday sounds good to me, will need to be back in BK by 1:30 or so.

B Mentor ride plan: My intention is to lead a slower, no drop group ride away from the usual 9W route to Piermont. There are two options that are floating in my head at this time. Which one we choose is dependent on rider interest/availability, road and weather conditions.

Option 1: Saddle River Ride (one of JP's wormhole rides). About 58 miles bridge to bridge. Mixture of terrain. A handful of short punchy climbs for ego-checks, rolling...flats. It's one of my favorite rides. Only one downside to this ride. This ride is complicated enough that I cannot simply point you in the direction of home should you want to turn around early. If JP joins us for this ride, he could probably make it shorter, but unless he wrecks himself on Saturday, I'm betting he's going to want to open a bag a hammers with Perlberg and crew on the A ride.

Option 2: McMansion Time Warp. This ride is significantly shorter, and will go no further north than the northern exit to the River Road climb. BUT will take in some double secret climbs of 4+ minutes long that you've probably never done in nearby Alpine. We'll start on the traditional Kissena route, drop down to the low road, then hang a right and work our way back up to 9W. From there, we'll do River Road in reverse, which is sort of entertaining in it's own right. IMPORTANT NOTE. Even though this loop is a good climbing loop, the pace will be moderate. Not JP or Owens moderate either, Bertucco moderate which will be appropriate for beginners and out of shape experts alike. This is a good ride for Brooklynites short on time but still want to get an entertaining "across the bridge" ride in this weekend other than an "out and back 9W" ride. If folks want to specifically work on pace-lining, we could also simply head straight back on 9W instead of dropping down to River Road.

Option 3: Traditional Kissena Sunday Ride. The B-ride group could head out and let "Bag-o-Hammers" riders go when the pace gets too much. Or better yet, start 5 minutes later this way, it just doesn't turn into a shred-fest with random Kissenas dotting the landscape. Because this route is known by multiple folks, I won't be doing this option, because my goal is to introduce folks to some new routes.
