I'd like to join the ride tomorrow, but am concerned about getting to GWB from Brooklyn given the NYC triathlon goings on. Wondering if I should take the train past the hubbub. Anyone know what it's like from years past? Also, I'll be recouping from a double digit run, but am fine with getting dropped if it goes that way.

Hey Emily, it looks like they are shutting down the northbound lane of the highway so our route up the green way/riverside drive seems to be clear. We can alter the route as necessary.

Anyone coming up from Brooklyn: Meet up at Brooklyn Bridge, 8am. Or you can try for the David Stokes special which is waiting along the green way downtown and join up when you see Kissenas passing by. Message me if this is your first time coming, don't be shy!

The summer street program is only on Saturdays. But it does start from Brooklyn bridge to 72d street via 4th ave/park ave.

And here I was hoping that yesterday evening's nice weather would hold up...

If you have clip on fenders, use them. If you have more than one tube, bring it.

Dale, bummer...we left at 9:20 a.m.

Roads still a little wet, but nice and cool and no rain by 8:30am on the Upper West Side. Started with Emily, David, Ed and Eloy, rolled it easy to Sparkill where David, Emily and Ed turned back on 9W. (Eloy turned back a little earlier). Pleasant chatting with everyone. Last time I saw Ed, he was ripping it up in the Master's Crit Champs at White Plains. Today he was sporting the way, way old school hot pink Kissena arm-warmers.

Worked on some climbing technique with Emily too. And in true "doh, why didn't I think of that earlier" form I have some further thoughts and "exercises" for @Emily to try. Click on over to the training, faster, stronger thread later today or tomorrow. I think I might have a cracked the mystery...

For me, I needed some more miles, and was hoping that some of the clubs hammer-ready-heads would come out to play. Chasing McLoughlin or Johnston up Watertower would have been just what the doctor coach ordered. Literally.

I was tired from yesterday's racing, and that combined with my inclination to ride easy-breezy when by myself was sort of a deadly combination. So with that knowledge in hand, I hit up the local climbs that you know (Watertower, Rockland Lake), plus a few more top secret/illegal (yes I went the wrong way up a one-way stretch of road; I live on the edge folks, if you can't keep up with my penchant for danger, just stay home, 'kay?) ones that was shown to me once by Keith "I fought the law and...I won Beeeyotches" Snyder.

On the way home, after descending Clausland Mountain one of the usual ways, I took a lesser-known back route that made me think of Dale and his constant demand for "NEW ROADS PLEASE." Dale, next time we ride together, you're in for a real treat.

Next weekend I'm learning how to better ride my cross bike with the CycleSmart dudes including the one and only Adam Myerson, and then I'm gone for Chicago stuff for two weekends. Then it's Green Mountain. Then it's cross. So I don't know when the next time I'll actually get in a group ride again. Probably not until "bootie" season. And that makes me a little sad on many levels. Oh well...

Good times today with Emily, Eloy, Marc, Ed, and Ryan.  Even saw Malcomson, Bruce, and Erika Tarte on my way to and from various bridges.  The triathlon indeed closed down the greenway, but we went straight up West End Ave and crossed over to Riverside which is stripped for a much needed repave.

Big group, fun ride! Nice to meet everyone I haven't met before, and nice to see all the familiar faces.

Was really good to see everyone who came out today, especially Johnny. It felt good to see him back on the bike... and to come around him on the Strictly sprint (no offense, I'll take what I can get).

Great to see the women's team out in force today: Anna Maria, Ingrid, Emily and new member Maura all met us at Tavern and, sans Emily, we rolled up to the bridge to where there were about 15 of us.

Ingrid was impressive, she rode and raced 100 miles today.

We took the forest trail back from Piermont and almost ran over about a 5 foot long snake stretched out like a stick smack in the middle of the path.

Good to see everyone today, and congrats to the women who raced and then kept going on the group ride.

I'll be at the GWB at 9 this Sunday.  Sickness this week takes me away from racing.  No idea how I'll feel.

A couple of lads in my work are looking for a good 100 mile route from NYC , they are training for an ironman and they want to avoid the roads through Haverstraw , and I cant remember the route well enough to describe up to the orchards,

anyone riding tomorrow (saturday?)

I swear I just saw @christopher yacks ride by in Water Mill.   I gave chase in the mighty Prius and even shouted but it appeared as thought the firing of the neurons in his massive quads drowned out the sewing machine like hum of my rice-burning veehicle.   Can anyone confirm or deny?  Off to CT to ride
