Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

I love JP wormhole rides. Revisited and passed by an old house I lived at in Nyack when I was a chain smoking 21yo punk. The hill it was at top of is just as steep as I remember it.

Indeed the burrito was excellent. I think they just won at the Vendy awards.
Alrighty non-cross racer folks: Tomorrow, Saturday 9/27 - very chill, easy ride up to Alpine or Piermont.  I would like to start at 7am Brooklyn Bridge if possible, but please reply here if 8am is preferable.

8AM Brooklyn Bridge/9AM George Washington Bridge

See ya'll there.
Sounds like a great plan. Chill sounds good and it may just be Alpine for me. It will be the maiden journey of my new steed so I will be taking it steady

Picture?
I'm down.
I'll be at the BB.
Kayt, Thierry, Vlad, Yang, Ian (riding a Fiamme equipped Italian steel museum piece -- photo please) > RR to Piermont. Back thru the forest. Great ride, Yang tore up the sprints, Vlad megawatts all day
Megawatts is right my friend. Crank axle snapped in two in the west village. Holy WTF?! Yang's got pictures. Rode the A train back to BK.
Vlad the destroyer destroyed his axle.

Saturday morning was for the kiddies.  Sunday?  Didn't realize.  Maybe next week for that.
JP what's your ride plan / timing? I may join or do FBF. Haven't decided yet.
hope to be back at the bridge by noonish.
Ok. Looks like I can't make this now. Have a good ride and stay warm.
Y'all missed a good one.

With just myself WrongWay and Caesar, we headed to Fort Lee for an early entry into the wormhole.

After some good meandering, we did a lap of the old Park Ridge criterium course (.9mi with a wall probably taking about .2mi of it).  Then we headed out to Pearl River, West Nyack, past the asylum, onto the rail trail, and over to Mattie's for some coffee.

Josh headed back because of time constraints, I did Ash/Tweed/Bradley/Nyack rail trail loop because I don't like stopping.

Then WrongWay and I proceeded to crush the spirits of the unlucky MS riders heading south on 9W (aka the "Fredpocalypse"), catching and dispatching oodles of riders.  We caught Patrick R. (I think) in a group, and he joined us as we put the screws to his group.  There was a practical reason to ride hard--passing others is safer than getting passed.

fun times.  Tis a pity more weren't with us.
Lot's of new stuff encountered, thanks to JP for keeping NJ interesting.

Josh made it up the crit course wall with a bit of paper boying. Pic below is him cresting it. Would not like to do that 30x in a row, but it's too bad that race is kaput.

The course above was essentially a rollercoaster.  This is the vertical grind.  Behind josh is a 120-140 degree left-hand turn.  After the top, it's downhill, and then it flattens out about 300 meters before the turn, so even the guys in front have to scrub off a ton of speed before turning onto the hill.
Bummed I missed this one.

Hey team...so, it's a rare opportunity that I decide not to race a cross race on a weekend day in the Fall, but I need to save some money, and train, so I'm going out on SUNDAY for a LONG wormhole ride. Company is welcome and encouraged.

Ride parameters. Start at 9am. 4+ hours bridge to bridge minimum; 1st hour easy, active recovery, chatting, etc. After that picking up the pace to endurance/tempo. If JP comes I will try to beat his head in on at least one climb, but other than that a very social ride. Probably one stop of about 15 minutes.

Alternative: If there is specific demand of at least 4 other KCC riders, I will change my plans and lead a long SLOW group ride.

Let me know.
In, but will split off to get back to brooklyn earlier. I'd like to get some climbing in as well.
Le sigh. First hall pass in months to ride up there but I've got 4x15 just above threshold to knock out.

4 x 15???? FOUR....yikes. No rest for the weary. I'm exhausted just reading that workout. No wonder I had to tell you to slow down at Gloucester.

LOL. Going fast doesn't seem to be the problem... it's
turning while going fast that seems to be my undoing :P
