Reminder, I'm heading out for 4+ hours of glorious road riding tomorrow. If I'm honest, it's going to be closer to 5 hours. If you can, join me for a journey into Jersey. Leaving 9am from the Jersey side of the GWB.
I'll be there. 8am BB.
Yep.
Tomorrow I'll be heading to Cunningham Park for a couple of hours of trails on the cross bike. Probably 9:30~10ish.

If interested, text me to coordinate: 347.225.1058.

cheers.
Can't make it this week, pour some Stumptown out for me.

Forget the moral, what's the STORY?

(the moral is always #shouldapedalledharder)

Probably me. Road my Crossbike through Hither Hills State Park this morning
Beautiful day for the group ride yesterday.  Marc and JP took Thierry, Vlad, Mitch, Chi, and myself deep into the wormhole and showed us some nice new (for me) climbs and views.  On possibly the best climb of the route Marc was at the front setting a lung busting pace.  Feeling pretty good I stayed abreast with him until it was just the two of us up the road.  It slowly dawned on me that I couldn't keep it up much longer as Marc put on his poker face and kept turning the screws.  Just when I thought I'd fall apart, he grunted an indecipherable swear word and rolled off onto someone's lawn.  Zod have mercy, he caught a flat!  It gave me a perfect excuse to pull over with him and catch my breath.*

More mechanical problems...a large rock squirmed out from under Thierry's tire and smashed his rear derailleur and threw off the shifting for the rest of the ride.  Bummer, he would have had a good day climbing.

Thierry and I needed to turn around early.  After following JPs directions and consulting with Google Maps, we realized just how deep into Jersey we were.  It took us a bit to find our bearings but we eventually made our way back to E. Clinton Ave which, if you're familiar, has two climbs leading up to 9W - both of which seemed a lot harder than I remember.  Maybe I'm adding on winter weight early this year...

Good times, good friends, good weather!

*Unfortunately, the Mavic tire bead was super tight and it took several of us using various tire levers to change the tube.
Zod doesn't know mercy...

Glad to read you made it back alive and in one piece.  Hope the same went for Thierry.  Were you able to get back to Ridgewood before consulting Google Maps?

We did the ride Marc was expecting, though I don't know if Chi was expecting the same.  He died approximately 1,000 deaths in the last 90 minutes or so, but was still able to smile.  Nice riding through the wall--most of us have been there, and the rest will be there one day.  He'll be better for the experience.  (time to get a bit prescriptive: on long rides into the unknown, always have a caffeinated gel or two in your pocket, you or someone else might need it)
We made a few minor wrong turns before getting to the train station overpass.  I haven't looked at the GPS route from the Garmin yet, but it should look like a descending stair step heading east toward the river.

Thanks again for the wormhole ride, there were some sweet climbs this time around.  Sad we had to miss the rest. I'll probably create a route map with it and load it up into the Garmin for weekends when you're not around to lead.
I'm planning on doing two 3 hour road rides this weekend up to Piermont or so. Very easy pace. This is my first week back on the bike since taking a few weeks off. Just want to ease back into things. If anyone has a hankering for some unstructured easy road riding early in the morning Sat or Sunday. Prob meet at GWB at 9am. Any takers? Let me know.
@Craig, I'll probably join you on Saturday.  Thinking of racing on Sunday at Floyd.
I'm probably down for both days. I'lli have to be back to the GWB by 12
Nice. I'm thinking of heading up River Road then to the Piermont Bike Shop depending on time. Nothing crazy. Drop into the small chainring on the climbs. No hammering. 9am GWB- Be there!! I'm trying for both days but Saturday is a definite.

...Nothing crazy. Drop into the small chainring on the climbs...
Using the small ring to climb is crazy?  By this standard, I'm certifiably insane.

I might have to skip Saturday and do Sunday, but will confirm later on the week.
I'll probably be there on Saturday going to Piermont via River Rd.
Need to get my fitness back. Be there for Saturday
Saturday for me , need to be back in Brooklyn for 12.30ish
Can't make Saturday, will be out on Sunday for new members ride.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format not-found
I'll be out there Saturday fools. 8am BB.

Racing Floyd on Sunday.... fools.
Sunday when is the new member ride ?
A need to get back home earlier than I previously thought coupled with insomnia means that I'm heading out now. I'll be there tomorrow for the new member ride.
Here at gwb nj side. It's 8:59.
Great day for a ride. Myself, Johnny W, Craig and Mark had some fun. Stop over in Piermont and back. Like I said, great day for a ride.
