It sucks I could not make it this morning, I'm dealing with some lower back pain this moment so I've to take it easy.
I will be at the GWB at 9:00 AM on Saturday and  plan to go on River road and Piermont afterwards. Anybody interested??
Thierry,

New member here, but was planning on riding up there at least one day this weekend. So yes, I'm interested- weather looks real good.

Sean
Great Sean, I will see you then.
Looks like i may be restricted to Prospect park laps Saturday
anyone doing any sunday ride?
I'm just getting over a head cold so I'll tread lightly Saturday- but think I'll be up for a Sunday ride into Piermont. Say GWB at 10am and ride for 2-3 hrs. Anyone else want to join?
I'm most likely riding Sunday for a "i'm gaining weight alarmingly quick" slow man ride to piermont.  Standard 8am BB/9am GWB meetup.

Whatever could be the cause?

That is really really not far from the truth.
Instead of racing tomorrow (saturday) I'll be heading to Cunningham Park to ride the trails on my cross bike, around 10am ish.Probably for about 2 hours.

I want to take my new CX bike out for some drills, where should I go near the GWB?

Edit: also any singletrack or stuff in the woods would be good
I say enough with the drills Brendan, and just go race Marty cross. Its close enough and you'll probably crush it. ;-)

I sometimes make a small course along the river in the area between the new park and the GWB. Also, a little further south are some grassy bits. I like the large rocks that are scattered just south of the playing field (north of the waste processing center). No trails that I know of. I once tried trails in NJ on top of the Palisades, but they were not at all satisfying. Maybe there are some in van Cortland park.
Retouched! Pixelmator for iPad just made my brain explode.

A solid ride today, with Vlad, Thierry, and new member Sean.

It started on the cool side but the sun was out all day and warmed things up.  A beautiful day to go for a ride, that's for sure, with the leaves changing and the challenge of winter riding ahead, but not here yet.
After River Road and 9W, we took a coffee break in Piermont where we caught up with Phil from the Weather Channel.  Phil and Vlad pulled us all the way home!  I'm glad my bearings were recently regreased so no one could hear I didn't have to pedal.  I stayed in the small ring and still managed to pick up 17 prs, thanks to the guys up front.  Though my legs are abuzz as I sit here with more coffee.
We also picked up quite a few stragglers out on the road who joined our small group for miles.  I think it was too nice of a day for anyone not to be out today.

Of course, once in Brooklyn, we stopped for Burritos in the Brooklyn Bridge Park and I think I'm going to write to our government(!) to help Calexico get a liquor license, though a beer on top of the sun, a warm bench and a long ride would have meant falling asleep immediately.

Nice riding with you guys today.  Sean is going to make a fierce cat 5 next season.

Brendan, check in with Todd, he's good at carving out time/space to train on the cx bike. There's an area in the Inwood area that he often trains.

More importantly though, put some road wheels on that bike and go out and ride/train on it like you would your road bike.

The geometry/feel is going to be diff't enough from your road bike that you want to get your body accustomed to the new position. Some of the guys struggling these last few weeks with back pain, etc., I think are guys who haven't spent a ton of time on their bike before the race.

But Stokes is right, there's plenty of grass "down by the river" including some hillsides, where you can work on off camber riding/turning.

@brendan, to state the obvious, the post right above yours is me inviting people to join on a singletrack cross bike ride --- granted not around the GWB.

Singletrack is always awesome, but always more awesome with friends. cheers!

in for 8am tmrw @ BB.  Looking forward to being off the back by mid-bridge.  ugh.
Eloy, might take you up on it next time. Those trails look seriously inviting. I Google mapped Cunningham and decided I wasnt up for the trek today...I live right by the GWB and was looking for something local. And much later than 10 am!

FYI
Piermont po po are stopping folks for running the red light
Nice and easy riding yesterday.  It was an all "Daves" ride with myself, Stokes, and Sharma...until Tim Wang showed up, but we made him an honorary Dave for the duration of the ride.  Let it be known that this was the ride that David Stokes convinced me to try CX again.

Dave, thanks for pushing us through. The flat didn't stop us and we hope Dave didn't eat the giant mushroom. overall a great ride. Cheers.
I made a lovely risotto. Even my wife enjoyed it!
Putting this out early.... who's up for riding Saturday?  I'll be in town, with bike, and itching to make it out.
Clifford - I read that as "itching to make out" and wasn't sure if that was literal or some sort of cultural thing you picked up during your global travels.

I'm there, dude.
I'm down to ride Sat and Sunday. GWB 9:00 AM. Hopefully I'll finally be over this cold by then.
