Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

I'm planning on a recon to Harriman on Saturday, 4/29, and depending on the weather.  But I'm not riding up - it's too far for any kind of solid recon.  I'm either taking Metro North or driving.  Planning on at least 4 laps.
Driving may depend on the number of people who want to go up (if there are others), and those who have cars.

There are a couple of train options

Grand Central to Peekskill
6:43 AM - 7:48 AM
7:43 AM - 8:48 AM
8:43 AM - 9:48 AM

Happy to go up with teammates, or meet folks up there, one way or another.
^ @Bruce van-Schalkwyk, I can get behind leaving by train, happy to join.
sadly I probably won't be around next weekend.

wondering if anyone might be interested in doing recon this Saturday instead?

alternatively, anyone riding Saturday after the recruitment spin?
@GregStreiff I'm down to recon on Saturday, provided I can keep enough in the tank for L&C on Sunday
Sick!
are you guys planning to ride up to Harriman? If so i can escort you to bradley or maybe water tower. i don't have time to do a full recon tomorrow.
I would be down to ride up, do a loop of the course and ride back or do a couple loops and train it back...to save some strength for Sunday.
What are you thinking Sebastian?
I am down for a ride but I have been sick and out of bike for a while, a full recon tomorrow will be hard for me. I would prefer next week.
9am GWB?
Up for anything, just have to be back in Brooklyn by 3pm. 9am GWB sounds good to me!
9am GWB works!
@GiacomoVischi maybe roll with us and turn back with Will? Can always peel off sooner too...
I'd need to be on the 12:30 from Peekskill, leaving ~3:30 to get to the course and over to Peekskill - would probably be tough to get that done if we meet at GWB at 9 since GWB to Harriman to Peekskill with one lap of the course is around 70 miles with a bunch of climbing.

That being said, I'm down to ride up to Rockland tomorrow with some climbing thrown in.
Hi all - cross posting here:

We are having another recruitment ride tomorrow morning!

Trying something different again, 8am laps in Prospect Park.

Share with anyone who's been thinking about joining, and hope to see a few of you there!

cool. I'm flexible.
Hey guys. Eric here, brand new to Kissena. Excited to be part of the club!

I have to be back in BKN at 1 so will roll north with you and peel off when I need to. See you at GWB at 9am tomorrow. Will be leaving from BB at 8 if anyone wants to join.
i am at the bb now. (8am)
no one here -- posers. Leaving for the gw (8:06) cheers
I had to pick up my car from the shop this morning before the ride, so driving up. Will be at GWB at 9am.
k ran into will, but johnny is mega late so we'll be late to gwb
At GWB. Let's do this.
To new Kissena members,

We wear our jersey with pride which means that we display proper behavior when riding in traffic. This includes not burning red lights while pedestrians are crossing the street and be cautious ( which means not gunning towards tourists on the bike path) when riding on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Sorry that I have to vent but what I witnessed today was not acceptable.

Brand new here too, and aiming to race Bear Mountain in a few weeks. Is anyone still going up to recon this Saturday, 4/29 either by Metro North or car? If by Metro North, is there a work around for that stretch where you’re on the Palisades from Seven Lakes to US 6. I haven’t had an issue this year the 3 times I’ve done it, but have heard their cracking down on cyclists trying to connect Bear Mountain to Harriman.

It's sad that this requires saying. Thierry is 100% correct y'all. When you fly the Kissena colors you are beholden to a higher standard of class and conduct than any other time. If you act like a jerk, it negatively impacts all of us. Cycling is a classy sport. Keep it that way.
Hi Christina.  Yes, I'm still planning on the recon ride.  I haven't worked the details out just yet and I'll be looking at options over the next couple of days.

I don't know what the issues are for riding that area.  My plan was to take 9W south from Bear Mountain Bridge onto 7 lakes drive, and make that short cutover passed the roundabout and continue on 7 Lakes.  Is it that short stretch that intersects Palisades that's getting police attention?

If that's the case, it's easy enough to head further South on 9W and right on 112, Wayne Ave, or even further South than that.  It depends on the size of the group we have.  A couple of people is not so bad, but a large peloton will draw more attention.
Hoping others give a shout-out if they've heard about issues riding up there lately.

Weather is looking, ugh, 81.  That'll probably make it the hottest day this year, so while it will be beautiful, it's going to suck the hydration out of our bodies.
^ good thing I've been training in the Texas heat!
Bruce, how you looking on Bear?  I'm up for taking the train there and back.  I'd like to back to Manhattan by 3pm, no later than 4pm, including a beer at Peekskill Brewery.  Below is peak of the Peekskill --> Grand Central schedule:

1:31 PM2:42 PM71THROUGH TRAINOFF PEAK
2:31 PM3:42 PM71THROUGH TRAINOFF PEAK
3:31 PM4:42 PM71THROUGH TRAINOFF PEAK
4:21 PM5:26 PM65THROUGH TRAINOFF PEAK

My body is craving an epic bike day so I'll be riding up on Saturday - would be sweet to have some company!
I'm in. Train there and back. I prefer the 8:43am train. I don't have anything I need to be back for.
