sure - wait at GWB. I had a mechanical right as I was leaving apartment but about to walk out the door now. It'll hustle up to the bridge - usually takes me an hour from home
Graydon Kolk (former Kissena), is leading a first ever #CoffeeOutside Trail Ride for Redbeard Bikes in NJ. It's this Saturday, 7/15. I wanted to extend the invite to y'all.
Get out of the city and into some dirt for the first ever Redbeard #CoffeeOutside ride! Graydon Kolk will take us on a mix of single track, paved & gravel roads. The
ride culminates in a climb to the top of Hawkwatch at the Spitrock
Reservoir where we'll enjoy coffee & the beautiful view. Bring along
portable coffee-making paraphernalia (Aeropress, Chemex, etc!). Cross,
all-road, MTB & adventure bikes only. 35c nubby tires & up. (No
road bikes or skinny slick tires.)
Fun ride yesterday - big crew rode out to Piermont then a group of us, Eloy, Jeff, Sean, myself and ole Bertucco himself, split off and did some extra miles and hills. Had some fun throwing metaphorical hammers at each other on those climbs & nice catching up with Bertucco, who's still got some serious punch. I paid for the long day and efforts with cramping legs, starting in the middle of the gas station sprint lead-out. I'd happily do another one of these long, punchy rides again, on a non-race weekend day.
I remember riding up the west side to get to the GWB during this event last year. I recall only a fairly mild detour. What do you mean by "unrideable"? Details, please.
Sunday, there is group called Freinds in Fitness (FIF) that is hosting a ride to bear mt. It's supported w SAG. They're doing the Grand Fondo route. It's going to be a very fast ride, v strong riders. Two options: 1) leaving from Strictlys at 6am sharp for 100 miles, 2) leaving from Market at 6:45 for a shorter ~72 mile ride. I will drive up just cause it's so early and can fit another rider or two if anyone wants to come.
Jeffe - I'm heading out tomorrow for 2.5-3 hr of endurance w/ some LT mixed in there. Park or a shorter bridge ride. Thinking about leaving around 9ish. Planning on riding longer Sunday which will be a real mixed bag of self-hatred, from looking at training peaks.... ah... back on the plan again... what joy
