Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

This morning during the Triangle Ride a guy had a strange Colnago with black parts taped to his frame. After the ride, he explained those were six one pound lead pieces taped to the frame, six others were in the rear bottle that was well taped to the bottle cage. Thus 12 extra pounds! I asked him how he managed on the climbs during the ride, he answered "I always get dropped on the climbs anyway", but I manage to get back... and today I was not supposed to do the Triangle ride ...
I've experimented with something similar for the last 5+ years. I find that if i keep weights (20lbs. in my case) encased within my abdomen they are less prone to noisily rattling about and they sit evenly distributed just above my center of gravity so handling remains fairly neutral. Strangely, I also get dropped on the climbs. I can' verify any training benefit yet, perhaps because I've had some difficulty dislodging the weights.

LOL. Me too.
I must add that the guy looked fit and was not large, the bike was a 52cm at most.
I guess he rarely visits the weightweenies forums.
Ian --hope you feel better soon. Dr. Andrew Pearle at HSS was awesome. If you call his office and speak with Rudy, Kathleen or Jillian... tell 'em that Norman Swygert sent you.

i'm out this weekend, but i'm looking forward to next - prob. saturday

tito: can you get your ass out there for once so someone can wrestle the Jawbone from your cold, dead fingers?
hi
one week on and i thought i'd give you all a progress update.

i've been lucky enough to be able to work from home for much of the week. the added benefit of this is that i miss the daily office xmas cookie and cake bake-off. i may not be riding, but at least i'm not stuffing my face with sugary treats.

thanks to everyone who suggested orthopedic surgeons: i'm scheduled for surgery on monday at the hospital for special surgery and i should be able to start moving my arm around later next week; back on the bike once the surgery wounds have healed, which should be right after xmas day, and i can build up my training from there. however i'm not supposed to ride outdoors until march.
Ugh - Ian, just read about all of this. Take good care of yourself and heal up quick!

I rode this morning to Piermont with a friend and some doodz who work with him in finance...I've been so out of shape, it was nice to feel like the strong, fast guy. ;)

Willy, I am now ready to defend the title. I will even sacrifice my collarbone for the Jawbone.
well . . . don't do that!
@ Perlberg, See you at 8am Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklyn side right?)
@ Ian, that's good news that you're getting the shoulder sorted—faster, stronger, more powerful than ever before!
@ John -

Yes Tillary Street entrance of the Brooklyn Bridge. See you at 8.

Nice ride today. Was joined by JP, Joe, and John.

Nice route, starting on the kissena regular route and then someone coming through West Nyack and hitting some dirt roads back to 9W.

Ended up getting in 80 miles, which I think is my longest ride since July :)
Did a couple of mellow hours in PP today before the sun set. Met up with Nathaniel& Whitey. No drama, good day.
Was a great ride. Thanks JP for the intriguing route allong the bike path and past the quarry to Nyack. Managed a 2nd place on Strava on one of those short struggle climbs... out of 7 riders... that's how outta the way it was. Propage to Joe for hammering 70 miles yesterday and still gassing it today.
jealous

i've been reading about the Olympus scandal for 30 hours straight
Alyosha & I rode an 1hr 1/2 in PP later in the afternoon today. He's a bit of a crazy mofo :) forced us into hard hill-repeat intervals to kick off our ride. Freezing weather aside, we had a good ride. Thankfully, cops were nowhere to be seen in the park today.
Anyone up for a Jawbone ride this Sunday? I leave Monday for Canada and id like to get a good, hard ride in.
can we do it saturday?

PLEASE!?!?!
Don't know if I can make Saturday. I will be there Sunday.
Sorry Willy - Saturday I'm working all day.

Forget whatever you're doing Sunday - the Jawbone calls!!!!
I will try to be there Sunday. I will suck wheels all day until the jawbone is on the line.
