I’ll meet u up by the GWB Patrick
Today I felt a little like this boat...old, washed up and knackered

I expect to be there Sunday morning.

Anyone joining?
Good ride with Sean and Ricky today. We threw in a bunch of short sprints on the way back as I was following Tim’s training plan. Grateful for the good weather.

Discovered an interesting art installation made of rocks under the GWB.

@mugwump you do love the rain, don’t ya?  Stay warm my friend
I'll be in NYC this upcoming weekend.  Looking to get out on Saturday morning but will likely need to do a GWB at 8am. I'll follow up later in the week.  Is it spring yet?
I'm up for Sunday 8am BB/9am GWB.

So Saturday ... Saturday ain't happening (for me anyway).  Moved my flight to Sat morning due to impending storm.

But Sunday ... Sunday may happen.  If all works well, 9am GWB.  I'll have my cold weather gear!
Folks still planning on a 9am GWB tomorrow? If so, I'll join. What is the "BB" meeting point? Brooklyn Bridge?
@JohnPowell , yes B.B. is brooklyn bridge entrance , brooklyn side 8am , see you there
I’m in for tomorrow.
Yacks may ride Cunningham tomorrow...
Made it to NY! I’ll be GWB at 9am Sunday
I'm hoping more than just a few are showing up.  The road racing season starts next week and getting a fast group ride in would be good for everybody.
wish i could join you all today but it's my first weekend back on bike, post-flu, so I'm takin it easy. it was a bummer, I was coming into best shape I've had for past few years then got the flu
Cunningham = The Broken Forest

Yack,
It wasn't just the broken forest.  Twice today Ricky and I had to stop because of broken trees across the road.  First, on Mountainview, where a cop stopped us.  He explained the situation--live power lines on the road--and then let us through.  The second was on the road around Rockland Lake.  That looked too big to go around.  There, we turned around, dropped down to the Hudson and road the trail back to Nyack before climbing up to 9W and continuing on our way.

Nice turnout at the bridge.  Eloy, John, Mark T, Scott, Marcos (?), Ricky, guy on Specialized (sorry, forgot your name), and myself.  We had a stiff headwind riding north.  There were moments where I was putting out 260w just to go 16mph.  Most turned for coffee at Sparkill.  Hope it was good and the ride back  with the wind.

Ricky and I continued north.  So kind of him to accompany me when he knew the hills favored my build.  We rode around Bradley, then to Mountainview, where we had to stop, then to Congers and Rockland Lake.

As Ricky pointed out, the warmest part of our ride was when we were riding the dirt path along the Hudson.

He knew what was coming...the wall past Nyack College.  Impressively, he hit that 14% grade in his big ring and started out full-gas.  That had to hurt.

We rolled over the top and to 9W.  I was hoping to pick off groups as we barreled south, either crushing their wills or getting them to join us.  Didn't exactly work out.  We set a controlled pace up stateline, where we got passed near the top.  That group pretty much sat up over the top.  We caught two on the next drop, then another few on the next rise, though the first two started to pull away, and no one joined us.  I kept them at 10-20 seconds all the way to Tenafly.  We even picked up a guy who didn't pull at all, but then jumped us twice after we slowed down.

All in all, an excellent ride for me and (I'm hoping) Ricky.  He's showing some good fitness.  I'm pretty happy with my form as well.

Here's his Strava file. https://www.strava.com/activities/1436394619

(Ricky, I think something's wrong with your GPS.  You ended up with 900' more climbing than I did.)
Good riding with you guys today! Solid day chasing JP around (or getting pulled around) with a decent amount of climbing. That gravel path along the water was awesome wish it went on for longer. Might be time to upgrade the garmin, sometimes the elevation data gets screwy depending on the weather either too high or none at all.

I've got a nice Cateye Stealth EVO I could sell you...low miles...handles like a dream
but I kid
Tomorrow anyone 9am GWB?
I'm going earlier if anyone wants to join.
Anyone up for Sunday at the GWB at 9am?
Nothing like a bike race to get you jazzed about more miles.
I am ... here
First, Sunday.

Niall, myself and Marc Bertucco headed out.  A headwind all the way north.  Niall turned back at Sparkill, I went on to Rockland Lake.  Surprisingly few people out.
Peoples,
Skip the traditional Kissena Sunday ride for a velodrome session.

Speed, skills, camaraderie.

Mass-start racing takes lots of skill, and being in sync with teammates makes it easier to do well.

I hope you can make it regardless of where your fitness is and racing goals are.

It's fun, too.
Just a headsup JP, there's Branchbrook racing Sunday — Lucarelli & Castaldi DST Tour Sun 7 AM
Thanks.

Normally, I like to race once a weekend in March, but this year has been exceptional.

We picked the date for a few reasons.  We were planning on putting on the Spring Series on Saturday.  Working around other race dates both earlier in March and later proved hard because there were conflicts with races on the road and track.  And there is going to be regular weekend track racing in April.

So, for those who are considering B'Brook, I ask that you either do both (if your B'Brook race is early enough) or skip this one race because the payoff is far greater than a single race day.  It will help you all through the season.

Anyone riding Saturday?
aiming for Saturday 9am GWB
Confirmed. Tomorrow 9am gwb. Chilly but promises to warm up
