Membership Happenings this Weekend

We are expecting 5-6 prospects on Saturday's ride & the weather is supposed to be ideal (40s-50s all day)! Would be nice to have at least 5-6 KCC members on the ride as well.

Saturday

GWB New Member Ride 8AM BB / 9AM GWB

Sunday

Meet Kissena Ride 11AM GAP (Prospect Park)

anyone for a spirited group ride tomorrow 9am at the GWB?

Tight and social on the way out, hard rotating pace line rumble back on 9W.

Guess who I met in Cunningham today

I’m in for tomorrow
Just me, Patrick, and Ricky to face the wind today.

But, as I suggested, it was spirited from the start.  Helped (or hurt) by a stiff headwind from the north, we rode pretty hard on the way out to the Bradley-Tweed turnaround.  Maybe inspired by his new deep-dish race wheels, Patrick was pretty frisky.  Ricky was as well, perhaps trying to keep warm.

On the way home, we rode a hard tempo down 9W, though it seemed we had a cross-headwind the entire way.  1m pulls was the plan.  Ricky started going a bit long, like 90s at a time.  I figured he was feeling extra strong.  However, when we got to CNBC, I ended up dropping both Ricky and Patrick. Payback, I suppose for how they dropped me on the big hills.

For me, this was my biggest week on the bike since early October, 14 hours of riding, 216 miles.  And it was supposed to be a rest week.  Must have done something wrong.  I basically took Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off, just using the bike to do errands and such.  But, I guess I rode hard on Thursday, did openers Friday, raced and rode home from the race yesterday, and then today's fun.

pity more didn't join in.

I'd like to plug the upcoming crit clinic being hosted by our own John M and JP this Saturday at Rockleigh.

For those who didn't receive the email, this clinic is a valuable lesson in the unique requirements of criteriums. John and JP are wellsprings of racing knowledge and everyone, beginner or vet, should try to absorb as much as possible. It's also very fun. Afterwards, more riding or coffee at Piermont with MSR on tv. What more can you ask for?

Plan to meet BB at 8am, GWB 9am. Be there!
Great time today at the crit clinic - thank you John M and JP for putting it together - definitely learned a lot. Good luck to everyone racing tomorrow morning.

Note to self: Do not do SL deadlifts on Thursdays, DOMS will hit hard on Saturday, ha
If anyone is looking for some recovery spins after the races tomorrow, a couple prospects are meeting us at GAP at 9AM.
GWB Meet Kissena Ride this Saturday

We are expecting a good new member turnout so come out & support! You can also expect temps in the 60's!

8AM Brooklyn Bridge, 9AM GWB roll

GWB Meet Kissena rides will be the last Saturday of every month from now until end of October.
Looking forward to it.
I plan on being there.
DITTO
Will be there too! Stoked on the warm weather. We thinking Piermont and back again?
Can't wait for it!
wonderful hotness today, so awesome to see such a large fun group out!!

@eloy best photographer/cook that I know. Great ride today!
Today was the first super nice weather ride of the year and I think we made the most of it. Rich, John and I did a few laps after the ride and John ended up with 100mi for the day. Great ride everyone!
Also, glad I got to work on those tan lines
Yeah, I managed to get a rate case of March sunburn....
For those riding this Sunday...

Bruce and I were turned away at the entry to River Road.  And not just by a closed gate (please!).  A policeman in a cruiser was there.

He said he expected it to be closed on Sunday as well, but reopened monday.
Some of us were talking at the race about getting a really solid group ride in this weekend. It's supposed to be stupid nice on Saturday so it'll be a great day to get a few long hours with some efforts sprinkled in. Who alls in?
Any chance of switching to Sunday - I'm doing an "obstacle race" on Saturday which I had forgotten about (chosen to ignore)...
@RichFreeman admitting that you’re doing an obstacle race is the first step to the path of recovery.
I'm going to be doing some laps round Tiorati in Bear Mountain with a buddy from Philly on Saturday, but if any guys make it that far north/want to join, hit me up (845-642-8095) and we can do some climbing
haha damn, I was hoping to watch Roubaix on Sunday. Tiorati sounds interesting though!
Could watch at Piermont bike shop?
@RichFreeman
There's no dislike button so you're off topic and I do not agree with you.  ANYWAYS - ill be riding Saturday.  No can do Sunday

:'(  :'(  :'(
Definitely in (prefer Saturday)! I'm coming off of 38 hiking miles and 7200ft of climbing in AZ the past week, so my legs are a bit sore, but the views were A+ the sheer scale alone is hard to comprehend
Love the Southwest.
