Sounds like a great trip @BrianStan. You gotta wear that hat at the next race.

The real question is.... over or under the Kask Protone?  :)

Weather supposed to be in the 70's but raining up until early morning, will bring fender

@BrianStan
See you NJ side of GWB bridge at 9:00AM!
Hi all! I am up for the ride tmr as well! How long is the ride?
The past few times we've gone to Piermont / thereabouts so I'd estimate 55 -75 miles depending on where in the city you live.
Yessir! Seems like it should stop before 8 (I hope). I’ll be at BB at 8am.
Sunday. TOG 9 am. Laps for 2 hours or so. 🤙🤙

Keen - fancy setting off early (I’m doing reg for the race)...
rich - if you still want to join, text me in the morning @ 843.230.4482. i can meet at the BB @ 8 am
This is just an FYI for anyone concerned, as news travels in nyc cycling. I took a tumble on 9W on Sunday ride, with Rich. It was a lovely ride, Rich was looking good, throwing down some watts on River Road and then we were in the middle of a sporty state line sprint when my chain slipped mid-sprint. It was a hard impact but it was as graceful a fall as I have ever experienced -- almost no road rash but my head / shoulder absorbed all of impact. I cracked my helmet big time and screwed up my shoulder.

Luckily Rich was ahead of me and wasn't affected, aside from attending to me after the crash. No broken bones but I'll be in a sling for a while and racing will have to wait a couple more months. (just when i was about to start!)

I still have to get an MRI and follow up with Orthopedist, to see if anything is damaged inside the shoulder. My bike wasn't seriously damaged either, so after sitting for a bit and letting the adrenaline subside & convincing Rich that I was ok, we rode back to brooklyn. I've been knocked out before and separated the same (left) shoulder before, so I knew what those sensations felt like but I appreciate Rich's reticence to let me get back on my bike. I would have approached the situation the same way. I know head / neck trauma can be a bit tricky to assess on the spot.

These helmets do their job!

Brian! dude, please take good care and heal up.
I’m glad you’re OK Brian. I hope you heal fast.
Dang Brian, terrible luck! Get well soon.
Sorry to hear that you got hurt Brian and yes! Thank God for helmets!
Heal up! Good to hear the noggin felt alright post-crash.  I'm sure Rich followed concussion protocol and chatted your ear off.  Keep us posted about the shoulder - Labrum, rotator cuff?
Brian - that stinks. Hope your shoulder recovers quick.
We interrupt the normal group ride discussion with a reminder about the Catskills weekend Doodle Poll.

The board will make a decision this week about the weekend away in the Catskills. Go ahead and let us know what dates work for you if you have not done so already! Check out the forum post and complete the doodle poll.

See details here
Brian - we saw you ride by from our perches at Konditori on Sunday morning. If we could have foretold the future we would have chased you down and forced you to sit with us for some coffee. Heal up quick.
Kissena Fam, I'm in NY this weekend :O  Will be staying in Westchester, and able to ride on Saturday.  GWB 9am.  Hope to see some folks!

(Brian sorry to hear about the spill, heal up quick!)
Anyone fancy some afternoon riding tomorrow (after the rain)? Gentle ride out to Market/Piermont?
I'm down. What time were you thinking?

Likewise. I could meet at GWB at 1pm or so
Be careful out there. I was thinking of joining, but am holding off due to a forecast of significant wind gusts
I could be there by 2:00.

Thanks @PatrickGrehan. It’s still pretty wet and windy in westchester. I’m gonna hold off a little longer before I head out.
Sorry to those who messaged back for last Saturday - went out without checking on here.

Anyone keen to get some practice in on a hilly ride on Saturday? Maybe loops of Bradley/Tweed or go further a field to Harriman?
I know there was talk at some point of going up to check out the BM Classic course. I’d be down to trek up there either via car or maybe train?
