Hmmm.. should I risk it and show up around 10:30? Or just ride around home? I can't stay that late as we have company in the mid/late afternoon.

I'm still on the fence about racing track on Sunday... Or officiating Track on Sunday. Or riding at home on Sunday and getting stuff done around the house. Argh! So many decisions.

Does anyone know if RR will be shut on Saturday? I'm totally fine with not riding it (as doing the GFNY on Sunday) but would be keen for a longish ride over the bridge on Saturday..

The Redbeard riders have invited us to meet them at the shop at 8AM & ride together to GWB!

If you choose to do so (& this might sound like common sense), keep a line of communication open on slack channel #gwb so ppl know to wait up at GWB. 

That sounds good too... Chill ride with the RB guys till the GWB, then the spirited can smash it after that!

@JohnOlsson ma bad, I thought you were doing this Saturday. I guess I am still Jet-Lagging, lol. Sunday I'm officiating at Kissena Velodrome. I should still be able to join but I will need to be at the track around 11-11:30 am. I'm guessing it would take about half hour to get there from Prospect by car?

I’m getting up early to do a “family man” ride. Aiming to get wheels down from Windsor Terrace before 7:00p and head toward Piermont. Anyone else interested in an early one?

Beautiful day out there.  Solid riders at the start: Ricky, Bob, Darren and his friend, Paolo (I believe). Pity more didn't come out to play, but we had solid fun without.

I didn't need much, or any, arm twisting to convince them a wormhole should be engaged.  We rode out to the edge of Suffern, NY before starting to come back.  

*in Dumont, I heard the whistle of a freight train.  I convinced the others that waiting at the light would mean getting stuck at the crossing.  But I waited too long.  I got to the crossing just as the gates started to drop.  And the others weren't close enough to risk it.  Almost six minutes later, the gates went up.  IT was so long, there was at least one locomotive in the middle of the train.

*Trying to remember where, but a wild turkey crossed the road in front of us.

*A larger than usual contingent of jerky drivers yelling out the windows of their cars.

I know this is not a weekend, but on Monday I'm contemplating going up to Harriman State Park to do my three loops. The estimated distance is around 78 miles and 6200 ft of climbing, or so says Garmin Connect. Each loop comes back to the car so bathroom brake and change of water bottles or food is possible.

If there is any interest, for those not racing Summerville, I have no problems driving I have room for 3 more bikes on the roof of my van (I think I have 2 thru-axle adaptors I need to check tomorrow for the adaptors for the smaller axles for one of my adaptors.) I would like to get the parking before 8am so I don't have to pay for parking and deal with the huge crowds of people who show up later.

@AndrewJohnson looks like a good ride. Let me check with the boss. Count me as a definite maybe.

GWB Meet Kissena Ride this Saturday

8AM Brooklyn Bridge, 9AM GWB roll...we are expecting a couple strong riders & perfect weather in the 60's

I can't make it Saturday sadly, but I'm looking to do a longer ride Sunday (probably river road/piermont direction) for anyone that's interested. Figure 9am GWB roll

My current plan is to join the new member ride from Brooklyn.

@PatrickGrehan I would like to be parked at Lake Tiorati traffic circle no later then 7:45 so I don't have to pay for parking. Means an early start, but not so different from getting up at 2:30am to race prospect

It's over rated. Only issue is that I heard that having bikes on the roof of a car is not legal on the Palisades Pkway. Can anyone confirm? With the minivan they do sit higher so bridges can be a concern. If so I would need to drive up 9w and cut across.

If that’s a rule on the Palisades, it’s the first time I’ve heard it. I’ve driven with a bike on the roof plenty of times and never gotten stop for it. Mind you, similar to the parkways out on Long Island the bridges are not super tall but a standard minivan with the bike on the roof shouldn’t be an issue

I checked the palisades parkway regulations. Officially stuff on top of a car cannot exceed 2.5 feet. So they could ticket us, but its not highly likely.

This weekend I can throw my bike up there and just for kicks measure form my saddle down to the ground and see if it's more then 10ft. I doubt it... but might be good to know.
