To describe in more detail, the dude and his "teammates" roll past a group of like, 10 (us and some others) at the light waiting to turn left onto Riverside.

He rolls all the way out into the street, zig zags around, makes a car who has the right of way stop, rides back to the other side of the light and circles a bit. Then the light turns and he takes a reverse holeshot and flies past everyone, narrowly squeezing between jeff and some cars.

That classic sunburst of orange yellow blue and white. I like them. I'm sure JP knows when that style was introduced and for whom (not being sarcastic. I'd like to know!).

Ah, everyone makes mistakes. And part of the fun of being into cycling is being hyper-critical of everyone, right?!?! And that bottomless case of excuses for not placing.

"I'm too fat" went straight into my book. I have been waiting ten months to bust that out on someone in my next race...

I mean, the thing was, it wasn't even a good track-stand. He basically rolled slowly 10 feet into the intersection until he was blocking the dude trying to make a left turn who has the right of way. And then he rolled around and back and did some crazy maneuver trying to get around Jeff to catch up to his teammates who had already blown the light.

Now let me say this. We run lights all the time. But that one seems particularly dangerous, and there are always other riders waiting at it. So any time you ride through it, it pretty much seems like you are telling the other folks waiting "well, I don't have to wait." So I usually wait.

But yeah, the I "I didn't buy a Colnago to wait at intersections" was a pretty great line. Add it to the list. We didn't win any friends there though.

oh yeah. The ride was nice.

Took a group of 10 or so Kissena dudes across the low roads.

We did the full climb on Alpine from the boat basin, where Ryan killed me the last 1/4 mile. Still, 5:39 is a respectable time for this early in the season with full bottles and winter gear. Ryan probably finished in 5:29 which should indicate he's on track to early season success in the hilly stuff. Watch out for him at Battenkill, Housotonic, Pawling, etc.

Then we rolled around and did Bradley, Owens and Ryan took the prize on that one.

A nice coffee in Piermont, and back to 9W via the dirt roads.

Sorry I missed you guys... I had to ride later in the day, and was lucky to get out at all, so went solo.
For the Alpine climb time, which start/stop --green sign or propane tank or what? I should get in line with how you guys are timing it... I prefer the Ragot finish which --I think-- is the little green sign at the crest of the little hill prior to the propane tank. The little sign is closer to the road and easier to judge exactly as you pass it, so makes for more consistent timings --plus, it's almost spot on the top of the sharp rise, so it's uphill through the finish.

i'm officially down with the little green "NO PASSING" sign in question as the finish to all recorded Alpine climb efforts from now until the Rapture amen

Can we get this put into the club charter?

I motion for inclusion of the Ranger Station sign as the official "long course"

I would like to see everyone, save the California Crew, out on the Sunday ride the last Sunday of February. Love to see more of you between now and then, but if making it on Sunday is hard, at least reserve that last Sunday of Feb for a big club ride.

See your teammates, see your category brothers, get a feel for each other, measure fitness, and so on.

I'd like to do what we tried last year.

1. Ride easy on the low road to the Rockleigh Crit course.

2. A short criterium session on the Rockleigh course.

3. Split into groups by category for the rest of the ride. The V's taking a short way back. The IV's a bit longer, and the I/II/III's longer still.

4. All should put in at least one hill effort, one group sprint, and a big, hard, rotating paceline on 9W.

looks like Saturday will be snowy, so lets play that by ear. I may stay closer to home and ride in the park if it isn't too bad on Saturday.

Sunday should be the same Kissena ride as always.

Putting that last Sunday on my calendar - looking forward to having Cap'n Bossy put the 4's through our paces.

Sunday BB at 8am, I'll be there.
For what it's worth, I usually try and grab a pre-ride coffee at the Sweedish coffee shop on 5th ave for a tranquil start to the day. Everybody is welcome.

Looks like we avoided 1" blizzard 2012!!! So I assume Sunday GWB is regular protocol time?

The forecast for 8AM tomorrow in Brooklyn is for 22 degrees with 20 MPH winds.

Too arctic for me by far.

Enough to make a grown man cry.

Ok. I can easily wimp out if no one is interested. Monday is a holiday and looks like 41, so I can do that if y'all want.

So, who's in and who's out? I'm not freezing my arse off alone, but I'm game if anyone else is. The roads seem dry, at least.
