Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

Glad people had a good time.  A group turned back at Old Tappan.  Another in West Nyack, and the foolhardiest joined me for the trip through the wormhole.  I was planning turning on my super-secret GPS blocking device buried in my bag in order to keep the route under wraps, but clearly forgot.

Beautiful day for a ride yesterday, and great to see everyone.  Jules' special EPO-free rice cakes got us off to a good start.  I was happy to be able to hang with the group, for the most part, and mostly within my new limits....I say mostly because I cooked myself pretty good trying to catch up at one point...but shit, it sure felt good to go fast.  Had a nice mellow ride back up 9W from Sparkill with Craig Z.....I'll try to stick around for the wormhole next time now that I see I can still do some miles and feel good after,
@jeffrey white - what was your bikescore?

Memorable day in the saddle today. JP took us to places where we didn't even recognize the town names on the direction signs. 2 miles to State Line? Like, the sprint? Is that a town? 4 miles to Wyckoff -- wtf are we back in Brooklyn?! There were multiple hours when the rest of us didn't even know what state we were in. If Jules hadn't brought the Lim rice cakes I think there would have been casualties. Good times. I hesitate to reveal JP's secret sauce, but here's where Garmin says we went: http://tpks.ws/PlB3

You didn't click on the link! TSS was 231.
Very nice ride with everyone and the rice cakes were great. Good thing I saved some for the ride home as I was in desperate need of some calories. Too bad I left my legs at home, my lack of training for the last couple of months really have taken their toll. David and I had a nice ride home together and despite the early turn off still a good morning in the saddle. Here is the shorter route for those interested.

Sorry I missed what sounded like a great ride & Jules' magic rice cakes. Meant to come out for that one.

I'm up for a Thanksgiving Day ride though.
I'd love to do a thanksgiving day ride (rice cakes included) but I'm Mr. Mom that day; so unless anyone knows of a relatively Bear and Scorpion free park I can leave my kids in for 7 hours or so.... I'll be stuck at home playing tea-time with bears and singing nine dozen round of "the wheels on the bus"
@Jeffrey White
Golden Cheetah calculates bike score, Training Peaks TSS. I think in Bikescore...
I'd be in for a Turkey day ride. I'm in the middle of a diet so I'm feeling less then peppy, but eff it.

I am down for a Turkey day morning ride. Do we say 8AM for Brooklyn Bridge meet-up?

I need some winter miles to justify the 12,000 calories I plan to consume in the form of stuffing and pie.
@Jules: all the scorpions and bears are hibernating by now. So I think you're safe until the spring.

Yes for turkey morning, though I can't go too long. Are we thinking about 9:00am GWB?

I am cooking, so relegated to prospect park

any takers?

I'll take your food.
8am BB, 9am GWB on TD sounds good to me.

Gobbles

I'll be upstate at my folks on Thanksgiving, so I'm gonna have to be content with doing a leisurely 40-miler through beautiful country roads in Columbia County.  Oh well *sigh*

I'll try to make it on turkey day.
Like Tito, my Turkey Day ride will feature a lone Kissena-clad rider (unless someone outfitted Hincapie with ChampSys gear), as I'll be pedaling down in the Pisgah/Blue Ridge near Asheville.  NBLC (nothing but leisurely climbing) to prepare myself for the tryptophan haze..........one of these days I'll try to organize a spring training camp down there...
Didn't make it today, exhausted from clinicals yesterday.  BUT, shooting for the annual thanksgiving ride to Bear Mtn.  Which will take me 10 hours in the shape I'm in...
This is the part where I say again, nursing as a professional career was the single worst thing that's every happened to my "cycling career." Still, I mostly manage to have fun regardless.
Yeah, I just try to look at it that 12 hour shifts are better than the 24-36 hr wah-mbulance shifts I used to work.  I think the worst that thing that ever happened to my cycling career was having no talent.
i dunno marc....seems like something is working for you with all of those cross medals you keep racking up. maybe the road to results starts with 3 am feedings, lack of sleep and sympathy calories.

I'll be at the BB at 8am tomorrow... don't make me wait.
The notorious Dr. Lim's Rice cakes.  Enjoy... (but make the rice as you are supposed to, not with 1/2 the water - I think that is a typo)

I may join up for thanksgiving ride, I need to be back in the city by 12:30 at the latest so i might peel off before. i'll be riding like i would after a thanksgiving meal: feeling 30pounds heavier and with the reflexes of a near-sighted grandmother, easy peasy.
Planning on joining this Turkey Day ride as well. +1 for Aly's "easy peasy" pace.
I will be the there.  But don't wait for me if I'm not..if you know what I mean.
Probably not gonna make it.  Just got home from rotation.  Have fun, duders.

Post Turkey ride anyone?
You mean Now?
9am Prospect. I'll be there

I'll be getting to prospect around noon for some laps if anyone wants to join. Lazy man's ride.

I'll have my phone:
