When does 'cross season start in Portland. Perhaps we should plan a Kissena Cross Crusade. Norm won't be able to avoid it now.
ha... I will keep you guys advised on it... I should have some sort of mongrel off-road rig assembled by then, so will be excited to --finally-- jump some barriers with you guys.

Cross posted from the Mentor thread:

Bump: Big weekend of racing workshops.

Saturday March 2 @ 8:30 am: Central Park: Cracking the Code (new meeting place, ride your bikes to the start location of the CP races. North of 72nd on the East Side. The top of Cat's Paw hill) Between 3 & 5 laps, to leave you time to do your own thing afterwards.

Sunday March 3 @ after the Central Park race: Grant's Tomb Criterium Racing Workshop. Meet at the finish of the CP race, we'll ride 7 minutes north to the race course. And spend 1 hour or less breaking it down.

I'll have my cell phone with me for both of these events in case someone is lost or running late.

Marc Bertucco: 646-761-8755

All of y'all should attend Marc's workshops . . . despite his hairy, rotund appearance, he is a master bike tactician and an eloquent speaker.

To those who aren't into learning 'n' shit . . . I'll be venturing over the bridge on Saturday morning at 10am on a muffin run.

Route and length tbd. Any takers?
that might be late enough so the workshoppers can double up.

I'm going to see how the weekend sked is here; I'd like to join.

i will push back a bit if the 'shoppers can hook up with me.

they, at least, will have earned their muffins.

let me know.
@WilliamDC ill be at marcs workshop and id like to join too although i might have to pull out early (assuming i can keep up). Please update on exact time and place

Looking forward to seeing all who can make it this weekend! Remember two different workshops on two different days. Saturday, is going to be a Central Park course run-through. Sunday is the Grant's Tomb course breakdown.

I'm in for Saturday. At least for the Central Park run-through. May be able to continue if time allows.

Um...45 degrees and sunny?  Oh yeah.  Can't resist that.

If we can push it back a bit, that would suit me - trying to get a bunch of stuff done early AM.
Me and my beer gut muffin top can come along. 10 @ GWB?

Be gentle....

Is it beer or muffins?

MAKE UP YOUR MIND OWENS
ok . . . final offer:

10:15am on the Jersey side of the GWB

no cursing, horseplay

word.
I can tell racing season has begun because the outlandish weekend ride schenanigans have begun.
Countdown to Owens' "prepare to die" has begun...
Muffin top beer gut put belly Dunlop spare tire pear shape......in effect. It's being broughten!

I'm down 5lbs to 185. Get ready MFers. Get ready.....

I'll see you at 10:15 WDC.

Last call. Tomorrow, for the Central Park pre-race course run through, meet at 8:30am on the East Side main road, just past the 72nd street transverse. It's the start/finish line of the open CP races. I'm planning to get done what we have to get done in time for folks to ride up to meet the muffin-men at 10:15 for group ride action.

I will wear a watch, to help me better manage the time.

P.S. This mentor-event was/is inspired by a teammate last year who was very successful in PP events, but reported to me that he struggled with the Central Park course because he didn't know it as well. You may be planning on skipping all of Anthony Van Dunk's CP races, but there are several later season, big money CP races, including the Mengoni GP where you not only have to be fit, but smart to do well. I can't promise any magic beans, but I'll give you the tools for you to start planting your own garden full of organic whoopass.
I haven't trained since Saturday in Los Angeles due to a near-lethal viral/bacterial collabo. But other than some moderate hearing loss and tinnitis in my right ear, I'm good to go! I'll use tomorrow to get my legs back with some endurance miles and tempo samples in Prospect around midday. So I won't be muffin strafing with Mr. Doyle or Mrs. Capitman.

However, I'll be on a muffin mission Sunday. #8ambb9amjsgwb

Holler if ya hear me.
I'll be there Saturday. Hoping Marc can lead some doing the double.

i'm running 10 min late

I will probably be out in PP mid-day today as well. Haven't done much this wek after camp.
looks like the cp racers are meeting at gwb at 8? I will not be racing so I plan to be at gwb at 9. I will wait until 9:10. need to be home by 1pm more or less. that means either the total mileage will be shorter or the ride will be faster. you figure it out.
tempo, tempo, tempo, and then more tempo or just all out when the road turns up. while I anticipate a stop I will not be eating any muffins.
route tbd. probably just make it up as I go.

keith
oh, and the crackmeter will be on my handlebars telling me just how much i suck
Plans for tomorrow's ride have become somewhat chaotic. I am not racing and would like to ride north, but am also contemplating riding around the Grant's Tomb course a few times with Marc & co. According to Marc's plans, this means getting to GWB around 9:30. I suspect some other people may have the same plan, but they have been quiet (perhaps lurking). It would be a shame to miss Keith and Jeff with their 9am GWB plan, especially as I am not racing Grant's Tomb and therefore have no special incentive to do this, other than general clubbiness (which is actually kind of a good reason). Can we hear a few more voices?
keith, people will be at GT at 8:30.  come do some laps with the group, then when that clinic is winding down, make your way over to hte bridge.

@ David - this is probably not the answer you want to hear but...

I'm planning on having a nice evening with Bo. I will then sleep 8 hours. If that leaves me with enough time to get to the GWB by 9 or 9:30 (whatever you guys decide on) I will be aim to be there. If we end up staying out late, I may be doing a solo 10 or 11 am ride.

But I agree, it would be nice to have a time to shoot for, if I know when the group is meeting up, I will try to get there for it.

FWIW - I plan on doing 80+ steady miles from Brooklyn, if the legs recover enough to allow it
Hitting PP in 20min for 60-90min ride. Holla if anyone plans to be out too.

Also planning on the Sunday group ride tomorrow. Still trying to figure out this tangled up schedule. Sounds like for folks who want to head straight to GWB & not do GT clinic, meetup is 9:30am at GWB? I have a non-KCC buddy who may want to join, so I need to figure out timing for meetup.
I think I wanna do the 9 AM GW meet. I'll post confirmation later.
I'm icing a little knee issue this afternoon, but if I'm feeling good this evening/tomorrow morning I'd be up for a ride north at 9 or 9:30.
I'm hoping to be at BB at 8/GWB 9 and will hang on to the group as long as I can....been a few weeks since I rode north.
