I made a last minute decision this morning to ride up to Elmsford. I managed to convince myself as far as Ft. Washington park that it would be doable, but by the time I was up over Ft. Tryon and on Dyckman Street, snow was coating my handlebars and gloves! I had to admit that it would not happen, so I turned around and headed home via St. Nicholas, Central Park and Q'Boro bridge. 41 miles is better than zero.
Probably should have started MUCH earlier :-)

I'm planning on joining for the Sunday ride, my first outing with the club (I'm excluding the new members ride). I don't even have a kit yet, and I'm still without clips, but I'll manage just fine. I'm looking forward to it!

@Patrick Jones, today it was across the street from where you exit the gwb bike/pedestrian path. not sure if its there everytime, as it was my first group ride, but it could also be on the gwb side... we were there for maybe until 10 after 9.
To everyone else at the ride today, i just wanted to say thanks. i didnt expect to make it back to the city with the group, my legs are sore as f*ck! glad to be riding with such a supportive group of guys. Hopefully with more group rides, my fitness and pacelining skills will improve

That explains a lot! I got to Cabrini/179th at about 9:04 and figured you either REALLY mean 9:00, or I wasn't at the right place. I crossed the bridge around 9:15 and rode it anyway, must not have been too far behind you. Couldn't have been a better day for it.
Now I know for next weekend :-)

Yeah, for winter rides, we generally meet at 9am on Sundays on the Jersey Side of the GWB, across the busy street where there's a parking pull out area for municipal vehicles. The reason for meeting there, is that at that time of day, there is sun and warmth, whereas the area immediately after going through the exit gate is shady and cool. And this time of year, it makes a difference.
And being someone who is not infrequently tardy to the meeting time, I know that if you show up late, you are gambling. I'm always grateful if folks have waited, but on colder days, I never expect anyone to be there if I'm more than 5 minutes late. It's a rare ride where folks leave at 9am on the dot, but also, if you show up at 9:15, you are most always out of luck.
I'm also really glad to hear that we've got guys putting out the word about group rides even though spring racing is in season. Many of the usual ride wrangler/leaders are now racing, so it's great that Kissenas are still getting together to ride.
Let's keep it up! Because we know that not everyone wants to or can race every weekend, both days and still want to get in some spirited group riding action. We're a big club, so it's up to all of us to make sure everyone feels welcome regardless of where they are in terms of racing/riding/fitness.
