it's not awkward!  you're in the same club.  i don't have kit yet and i've pulled up to plenty of kissenas randomly in the park.  actually, it was just joaquin.  we talked about wheels and law school.  then he started talking about corporate restructuring and i become so fascinated that i nearly fell off my bicycle.  nearly.

Hey All....here it is. Late notice, but maybe you can join the first ever, official Kissena Mentor-lead, NOT AS fast/long/hard AS THE SUNDAY GROUP RIDE.

I've been sick these last two weeks, and still have a splitting headache as I write this, so I'm going to be working out some kinks tomorrow. I'll meet folks at 9:30 (unless a bunch of you guys want to meet at 9am) on the NEW JERSEY SIDE OF THE GWB.

From there, we'll start the normal group ride route, but then a few blocks past the turn after the descent onto the low road (where many cut across the gas station), we're going to go a top secret route that begins with a right turn up through a strange and wonderful time warp of New Jersey/Alpine suburbs, drop back down, climb back up to 9W, go a few more ticks north that will take us to the Police Station at the top of the Alpine River Road climb and return home on that stretch in reverse.

This is a 90-ish-minute ride Bridge to Bridge, so you Brooklyn folks will still get a solid 3-4 hour day in at endurance pace, which frankly, for some of us, would be a good distance/intensity. Manhattan folks this is more like 2 hour ride, but you can use some of the climbs on the ride to treat those legs as "openers" if you are racing on Sunday.

I need to be back a bit early tomorrow (Sat) so looking to be at BB at 7:30am, Meeting Graydon at GWB by 8:30. Holla if anybody plans to join us early.

Yes tomorrow, 3/30. Ros and Graydon are you interested in doing this type of ride I have planned? I can set my alarm earlier without too much grief. No worries though if you want to do your own thing in the a.m. of 'morrow.

@Marc, it looks like Graydon and I will have a pair of non–Kissena friends joining us as well, so as long as you don't mind Endurance–ish pace, we of course would love to have you. But I think the plan now is to go (at least) to Nyack via River Road, so we won't be turning back by the time we hit Police Station (although maybe our two friends will at that point). It's cool if you wanna do your thing, but you're very welcome to join us if you don't mind changing it up! 8:30am @ GWG.

Ros, part of my reason for leading this ride, was to show folks a slightly different but entertaining and shorter ride over the GWB, especially for Brooklynites. If I wasn't clear, this ride doesn't just drop down to River Road and go up to the police station and back. I actually start in Englewood Cliffs, take some fun descents, then climb up through Alpine (it's close to 10 minutes of climbing when done at slow pace), then back down again, then back up to 9W to finish the ride by doing River Road "in reverse."

If Edwin is up for the earlier start, here's what I would suggest, you guys start out with us, see some new roads, then when we turn onto 9W, just a 1/4 south of the River road "exit," you guys can continue north on 9W for your ride.

But I'll wait to see if Edwin responds. Since he earlier said he'd be up for a 9:30 start, I don't want to mess with his schedule.

Marc, that sounds cool. If you end up meeting us at 8:30am, we can do that route you're suggesting. Sounds like fun, we'll just head North once we get to 9W again. Let me know once you finalize how you'll play it tomorrow with start time. Thnx.

@Bruce, I need to stop by my office before I head uptown, so I'm heading out a little earlier to make the GWB meet–up time. You can meet me along 30th St along West Side Highway bike path at 7:45am if you'd like. My cell# is 646.701.3109 in case you need it. We can ride up together from there.

Awesome group ride today, and what a great day to be out on the bike.  Thanks, Marc, for taking us up those NJ hills.  Ros and others, nice to meet you guys and finally ride together.  I got in 77 miles, had my second best time on Clausland (not sure how that happened), and I think I may have gotten sunburned!

Yea, that was a good Saturday ride. Clocked 78miles when all was said and done. Nice to meet some new faces today, and thanks again Marc! Those residential roads in Alpine were a treat. Mad buttery smooth pavement (that's what NJ taxes get ya) & nice gradual climbs were extactly what the Doctor ordered. Also thanks a lot for giving pointers to my Tri buddy Gina, she appreciated it.

Edwin, Graydon & I ended up going a bit long after we split off on 9W, but had a blast. Hope I won't be too blown for tomorrow's PP race.

Is anyone going to Nyack tomorrow? The timing for the rain is still mid-afternoon, no reason we can't get a dry ride in! I'm gonna go and will check the board before I leave in the morning to see if anyone else will be at the meeting spot at 9:00. Have a great night.

Excellent ride this morning up to Piermont. I enjoyed meeting you guys and listening to pointers about clips, cadence and leg shaving. Looking forward to riding in kit!
