Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

Rode about 77 miles today, sandwich in Nyack, soy chai at Bicycle Connection in Piermont, big hydrating at SB, then home. There was a not strong, but persistent part headwind, part crosswind today.

First ride with clips and they made me go so fast that there have been (completely unconfirmed) reports of riders several minutes behind me being pulled into my vortex.

Nice job Patrick. You're strong for sure. Being able to hang without the pedals last week was great.

Will head out around 730 from BB and head up as far as the GWB and maybe fit a lap around CP and PP if I can make it home by 1030.
David, I'm meeting some of the Prospect Peloton riders at 7:30 at the BB and heading North.  I'll look for you at the bridge so we can ride together to the GWB.
Sounds good, Bruce. If I can get up earlier I may be meeting Clifford a little earlier.  If not, see you at 730.

I really appreciate that. Nonetheless, I've discovered quickly that I kind of hit a wall around 21 mph. It's hard for me to sustain much above that, at least when I'm riding alone. I've got my work cut out for me.
What's with all you Sunday early birds!? :) Who is doing regular 8am BB / 9am GWB tomorrow?

Ahhhh, spoken like a dude who hasn't done much (any?) racing. It's not about the speed you can maintain by yourself. It's about your power, your endurance, your overall fitness, your ability to go HARD when it counts, your ability to recover from hard efforts while going "medium hard" in the shelter of a pack. And anyway, 21 is your wall? Really, when? Always? In what conditions? What about tailwind? What about downhill? Stiff headwind? MPH, by itself, is just about the most irrelevant number on any cycling computer. I mean, did you go 21 mph for 77 miles? Then hot-damn, you're strong.
Anyone not racing tomorrow? Since I missed reg for the L&C Cup (nice way to follow up a top 10 and KOM points, dumbass!) I will probably go long.

I'm leaning toward Nyack for Sunday as tomorrow is in theory a gym day for me, but if everyone is going tomorrow I can easily switch since I'd like to ride in a group this weekend.
People go to the gym during bicycle racing season?
What's a gym?
I'll meet at BK bridge at 8ish, pending KOM duties at L&C.

I'll make an effort for tomorrow, 8:00 AM.

I'm going to ride towards Piermont tomorrow; 8am brooklyn bridge (i'll be on the Manhattan side). Anybody joining?
I've got an 8:05 start time for the CRCA Alpine Hill Climb TT.

I'd love company during a spin to Piermont afterward. I could wait around until 8:30 or so. I know that makes for a damn early leave from BB, but if anyone feels like riding and getting back early, it could work well.
Bring back a Throphy!
I'll do my best!
Floris - I'll be there.

EDIT - I might not be there. Have to switch out my race wheels and brake pads, so looking like I'm going to be late.
@ jeff. Ok great. I'll be at the manhattan side of the bb around 8am and wait for you

Floris
Ok i'll go. Perhaps i see you on the road
We're waiting on the Brooklyn side for a few more minures
Ok i'll wait on manhattan side. Cheers
On the nj side of the gwb. Waiting till 910.
i'm going to ride today during the nice weather, ~1-4.  not sure i'll make it out over the GWB.  probably just PP or CP.  if you're interested, text or e-mail me and we can coordinate (774) 219-4511 rigby.b@gmail.com
@Brendan (or others), I had a long meeting with my bed this morning about the finer points of REM sleep. But maybe want to ride today as well (weather is too nice!). Any interest for a 1pm BB meetup today and then do Piermont or Nyack and back? I will follow this up with a text as well Brendan.

Well, I got 3rd w a 4:58. 2 seconds behind Richard Scudney of Asphalt Green. Anthony Fatuzzo crushed all as usual with a 4:45.

Of course you always feel in a TT like you could've gone faster, but whatever. I rode a decent TT. Probably should have gotten second.

Nice long ride with Stokes after. The $15 in winnings bought us coffee and treats.
Great news! Congrats.
Very nice Ryan.
Ryan congrats!
