Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

Just a reminder to hit up the Racing Strategy & Tactics thread for the tactics talk tomorrow night.
Really enjoyed doing just short of 100 miles with Eric, Hubbs, Alyosha, David S., (and John M, Neil, and Mark I for the first 30 or so.)
Great ride today guys! Thanks for dragging me around. No pride day pun intended....
yea, not a bad way to spend a sunday morning indeed! need myself a recovery massage now after this weekend's leg-tearing.

for some reason, I found myself just repeatedly going to the front to tow the group along. Surprisingly for my longest ride in memory (apart from Jan 1, 1999), I felt really good throughout the 5:40h effort. I think the illy coffee beverage at the Orchard really helped. I didn't feel hungry until 20m left in the ride.

for reference - nutrition:

4 slices of Ezekial bread with butter and fruit spread for breakfast.

2 bottles of HEED

2 Hammer Gels

1 Cliff Bar

4 Cliff Blocks (margarita) - 2 went to Hubbard)

1 Banana (but smaller than Hubbard's banana)

1 Smart Water

1 Regular Water bottle of water.

Result - a 1500w sprint after 4+ hours as we went up the ride going south to Strictly Bicycles. Sorry Yoshi, I still had some pop in the legs!

Yeah, I too felt surprisingly good for a 90-something miler, which I haven't done in a long time. But it's also true that I didn't do many hard efforts. One nasty acceleration up to the orchards, but other than that I never went very hard. My nutrition, since Eric did his:

Before
1 glass of plain water
3 slices of bread with almond butter and rhubarb strawberry jam
2 double Americanos

During
2 stinger waffles
1 cliff bar
1 piece of Panda licorice
a bunch of cherries
a banana
2 bottles of Cytomax
1 bottle of G2 (low calorie Gatorade)
2 bottles of plain water
1 Hammer Gel

Sup y'all?!?

I'm back!

Anyone want to ride on Thursday morning, before the serious drinking starts?
yup...

We should seriously think about doing some of this ride on our own...

Been there, done that... And yes, you should do it, it was a nice ride.

Yoshi you are so cool. Can I have your autograph?
Any day of the week
I ride a lot of these roads often, as my in-laws live nearby. Great riding, good climbing. Definitely worth the trip out there.
if anyone fancies it, i will be heading out tomorrow (saturday) for an early out-and-back to piermont.  aiming for a 6:30am BB start.
Will try to join.
@Mark I'll be there.  I have some hard work to after we cross GWB.
I might be up for the early run. We'll see. Was considering the triangle ride too.

I like the idea of getting out very early though and getting in as much riding as possible before the sun gets too high in the sky.
I'm seriously considering a 6am start to avoid the heat
I'm likely for 6:30

I'm in for 6:30... time enough to grab an iced coffee
i am a definite for tomorrow.  see you at 6:30.
Where's the meet up spot at BB? I might possibly join in tomorrow
I don't know if I am gonna wake up that early. I'll try.
Ok I'll b there
@javier ... the BB entrance on tillary street
Great times today - hot as balls but still almost 10 degrees colder and less humid than last year's TOC.  Crazy.

Kudos to the "honorary family men" who joined us today!

Yanger stole two sweet sprints, Clifford suffered his multiple mechanical indignities with grace and Ryan slayed all.  Jim made it look easy and Whitey is looking skinny.

Two KOM's on the drag race north - that west side path is niiice and empty early in the morning.

Jules and Ryan were not kidding around today.  Hard riding for sure, but I'm a better rider for it.

HOTDOG TIME!

Oh hey, somehow I got a random Strava KOM in the process...

We flew up the westside. Yeah, lots of hammering. I did 3 solid 30 min tempo intervals and a hard effort up Ash/Tweed/Nike. Back early. Good company. Super fun.
i'll be in prospect park in an hour or so.  dying of heatstroke.  if anyone cares to join.  text me for a more accurate start time

the funny thing about that KOM is the segment title is "[someone else's name]'s Commute"

you beat him at his own game.
