Part 3 (finally)
Now that you’ve decided your mattress type (spring coil or foam), firmness, and plush level, you can factor in price, and/or look at the contenders based on those criteria. I think you’ll find that there are maybe 4 to 6 mattresses that are still in the running. If you have a sleeping partner who’s going to be part of this decision making process that can make things easier too. If he/she feels a strong “no” on mattresses that you were sort of “meh” about, then it’s easy to eliminate.
On night 3 of mattress shopping, we left ourselves enough time to find our two favorites at Macy’s (took a picture of the price and name because remembering the names of these mattresses is harder than remembering the full formal names of the pooches at Westminster), and trekked over to a Sleepy’s that was on the way home (there are two on 72nd street, one close to Broadway, another closer to Columbus), and lay back down on our two favorites from the previous night.
P.S. While price wasn’t our primary concern, we didn’t win the PowerBall, so it was easy to breeze straight past the mattresses that cost over $3000. We did, for kicks lay on a few of the $6000 mattresses--including one with Peruvian Yak hair in it or something. I was really underwhelmed. They didn’t feel significantly different than the much lower priced models.
