Anyone got a bb30 and bb30 compatible crank I could borrow for a week? I cannot for the life of me get my bb30 converter to shimano to work without flex. Would like to just see if using the crank and bb the frame was designed for will help. If such a person willing to lend such goods was to be present at the race on Saturday, so would I.

I have a 6700 Ultegra crankset for sale.

53/39, 172.5mm. Used for 300-400 miles. I'm looking to pass it on as it isn't compatible with the frame I want to use it on (need BB30). I bought it brand new 2 months ago and it has no signs of cosmetic wear.

Looking for $250 OBO, will chuck in the 6700 bottom bracket for free which is brand new, in the box.

I now have a 3 week used all black Fizik Arione Saddle. The center strip is high gloss, and Fizik letters in silver. Pretty light saddle, don't think it has fancy rails, came with my CAAD 10, tested a few saddles during my fit, and now need to unload. $75.

Want to get some glasses. I will buy Rudy as we get a totally incredible discount.

Anyone got any preferences or advice here? Almost all of the glasses are the same price ($175-225) before discount so at the moment I guess I'm choosing based on colour!

With the discount, a $205 pair comes in at $123 after discount. Is there anything else (Oakley?) for this price anyone swears by?

I really like my Rudys. I got a bag & bunch of lenses package because it was cheaper than glasses with more than one lens.

Love having different lenses to swap out depending on circumstance; although I pretty much use 2 more than any; totally clear and "dark"

Ask to try on people's Rudys when riding around the park. Facial geometry makes a huge difference in terms of what can work with your face and what doesn't. Doesn't work means either sits too far away and you get too much stuff in your eyes, or too close, which means fogging too easily.

In terms of lenses, I'm really liking their photochromic clear. I can wear it in the dark to an early morning race and it darkens with daylight.

But I also have photochromic red, racing red, and laser blue. Take a look on how much light each takes in. Red lenses increase contrast, which can be nice on overcast and rainy days, though for dark, rainy days, I prefer yellow, as it brightens things up more than red.

If you look at all the sport glasses on the market, pretty much only Rudy dares to take on Oakley in terms of pricing, lenses, and styles. Most use Oakley as a reference, in that the others are cheaper and do X, Y, and/or Z differently, possibly better, and still come in at X% off the sticker-shock prices of the big O.

I have three pairs of Rudy's. I'm very happy with them. I'm even looking to unload my oakley half jackets because I dig the rudy's so much.

that being said the different models do fit, well, differently. If you want, I can bring a few pairs of mine to the races this weekend and you can test them out.

I am totally digging the photochromatic lenses. They are ideal for park racing, even though William makes fun of me and tells me a I remind him of that dorky tyler farrar transitions lenses advert. but then again, this is what your dorky ass face looks like when you can't wear your glasses because it is still too dark:

Need to confirm my plans for the weekend but when I have them set, if you are also attending the race, it would be great to try some to see how they work out. I've had several sets of glasses before (not Oakley or Rudy; have no idea where either of them went...) and had no fit issues but would be great to try something new in any case.

We could have a moto ride next to you so you could swap out glasses at various speeds and in differing light/shadow.

And we could station elephants on the course to spray you with water from their noses so you could test the hydrophobic properties of the lenses.

And we could hire tifosi and plant them at the key sections to cheer you (or not) depending on you coolness in each set.

lol well sometimes, when i ride, the elephants are multicolored and the tifosis are beautiful women joggers that lay rose pedals at the first sight of my presence! but that's only after i forget to take my medication and after a hard workout when my brain is deplete of oxygen and the endorphins are flying high.

I am looking to race track this year (2012) and I actually have a loaner bike I can use till I get my hands on my own bike soon.

But I don't have a front wheel. Does anyone have a track front wheel I could borrow for a few weeks ?

So, my favorite LBS had a hickup, and now I would like some advice from the masses.

I am looking to buy a track bike. I did some research, looked at a few models, and basically got to the point where I decided to go with the Specialized Langster Pro from the final ones I was looking at, since my LBS sold it, and I wanted to do the business with them. I trust their fit, I like their staff (both for personalities and knowledge) , we have a good relationship.

So a couple of weeks ago I put a deposit down for the Langster Pro so they can order it, and am told they have to talk to the shop owner to get me final prizing. I say "yes please, lets do it asap", since the shop manager had told me when I ordered it we would take some fit measurements, compare to my road bike, etc, to confirm what frame size to order (but most likely, based on my road bike and my previous full fit with them, a 52 was the size).

Some time passes, and I dont hear anything. So I email and don't hear anything. So I called earlier today.

I talk to one of the guys, bring him up to speed, and he rightly assumes that since I am calling them, that something fell through the cracks. He is the fourth person I have talked to about the bike (owner, manager, and two sales guys). He talks to the owner and also gets Specialized on the phone. Looking at my fit #s in the computer, I am closer to the 52 but between frame sizes, and the 52 has only two frames left (in the country?) for this year, and there are some 54s (also on back order, but easier to get). They informed me of a new relationship with Giant that they have, and suggested the "Omnium", which I had not looked at before.

I posted a less detailed note to the Velodrome Facebook group looking for feedback on the Omnium, and a got a bunch of comments to go get a "Kissena" from Affinity instead , and then got a few good comments on the Omnium as well.

so my options:
a) Langster Pro 52 - long wait time (if they can get it)
b) Langster Pro 54 - smaller wait time, still back ordered, more of a guarantee, less of a good fit (my road bike is a 53.7 but based on the geometry they think I should be a 52 here).
c) Omnium (size ?M?) - presumably more availability, otherwise why did they offer it to me
d) try to get my deposit back, go to Brooklyn and buy the Affinity Kissena.

I think I am leaning towards C - get the Giant Omnium - but if folks have any advice - please do tell.

I have two Giant bikes, and I can vouch for their builds. The lone exception is the carbon seatpost that comes on their CX bikes (a couple guys on the team will concur), which has failed some during hard remounts. Last I heard, Giant is the largest bike maker in the world. They do not gamble with their bike designs, so you will be getting nothing controversial with a Giant bike. I would say the same for Specialized (excluding, of course, that "Zertz" shit that comes on the Roubaix). I don't know anything about Affinity bikes, except that they look sick as shit and they seem to have cred among the trackies.

Get exactly the bike you want most, it's as simple as that. They're all in the same money range, so don't compromise one single bit. Which one, when you look at it, makes you want to get on it immediately and ride ride ride?

I think the only way you can go wrong here is to get a bike that doesn't fit. Forget about your relationship with your LBS. Your relationship with your bike is FAR more important. We don't go around picking our girlfriends/boyfriends based on how great their dads are. If your LBS can't get you EXACTLY what you want, or tries to up-size you to a frame that's TOO BIG (the worst way you can fuck up a bike purchase) by saying you're "between sizes," get EXACTLY the bike you want in the right size wherever you can find it. As long as it's not R&A.
