I am throwing my hat into the ring

I'd like to change out my seatpost; I have a new one, but I paid for a fit and I don't want to jank it.

Does anyone have a surefire way to make a jig or otherwise measure before & after so that i don't screw this up?

for fit...the guy who fit me(in SC, jim cunningham) marks post/seat adjust/handle bars&shoes 2cleat&pedal with colored (pink or silver) sharpe marker, he uses a 36" level for seat & bars. once you have marke you can interpotlate for new equipment or dis-assembly for travel. you are welcome to look at éli (my bicycle) to see where marks are.
