I would dump the LBS. The sound like a disaster. Put your cash in your pocket and walk around until you find THE bike you want and buy it. Waiting for a back-ordered bike while the track season passes you by would be frustrating.

I think you can make a good case for getting your deposit back:
1) They cannot get the 52 in a reasonable time frame and that is what you want
2) Tell them that you didn't mention their name on the forum . . . yet . . .

Cinelli also makes a track specific bike but probably not as economically reasonable as the other ones mentioned.

just checked out the specialized langster pro and it does seem to be a better bargain considering it's parts and build.

Looking at the geo charts, in the Omnium, it'd look llike you'd be on a small. Spec wise, they don't see far off. Same crank, similar frame tech/construction. Maybe slightly nicer wheels on the Specialized. The Fuji tracks are both nice bikes, at a lower price point. Look for a 2011 Jamis Sonik maybe, the frame stayed the same in 12, but they knocked the spec and price down a bit. Another bike to considering building around is the planet X carbon track. Marc, I'm all-in for this adventure, to be an ex-pat with my Swiss/Croatian miss forever and ever. We may not stay in Switzerland forever, but for the next few years she has guaranteed work there, which is more than I could say about my job. And no grad school for her! She's out in the world, doing research and teaching at a university. Granted, it's post-doc work, but it's pretty good for post-doc. As for me, I'll be learning French, doing my art, riding my bicycle, and eventually looking for work. And I'll be back for short visits. So far, I'm planning a week or so in August or September.
