@Phillip: There is nothing wrong with your fork. This probably just reflects a different era. Fads come and go.

Another factor is that you are probably using a conventional, 'narrow' rim. With such a rim, the 25mm tire will ride  higher. The new style rims are wider such that the 25mm tire can spread out and doesn't rise as far above the rim. The difference is quite noticeable and I have to  readjust your brake calipers to provide significantly more clearance for the wider rims. Probably the newer wide rims with 25mm tires will be fine with your forks.

But the take home message is: RELAX and be happy with the 23mm tires.
I used to ride 20mm tires in the old days and did just fine with 4-corner technical crits. It is all just a ploy to get you to buy new stuff.

Thank you sir @dstokes. I've always been satisfied with 23s. But of course everything I read said bigger is better. The point about narrow rims make sense as well.

So @Brendan - I still have a brand new 25mm for you for $0 cost if you want (one tire only).
@Phillip , fwiw, ive been running a 23/25 front/rear combo and it definitely makes a difference for me in terms of comfort, that way you can make use of any 25s u have
I'm running a 25 on my Neuvation front wheel...the issue is the fork...it be tooooooo low
i am sorry that it took besmirching your fork to get me a free tire.  we'll be in touch.  i'll be at FBF this sunday.  and maybe rockleigh the day after tomorrow.

i can even try it on MY caad10 and tell you if it fits.  i have two wheelsets i can try it with.

Anyone have any experience with speedplay pedals? I'm kind of interested in getting some for my road bike.
@graydon ... loads of kissenas ride speedplays, including me.  i am a big fan, largely because of the adjustable float.  being able to tweak the float has, i think at least, been the driver for my mitigating some niggly leg and knee issues over the last few months.

compared to my looks, i would say speedplays require a little more tlc, but in the end i think they are worth it.

of course, there will be many dissenters.  those people would have me hanged.

Yeah, but read the "Bicycle Tech/Gear Discussion Thread" for all the issues people have been having with their speedplay pedals and cleats.

Bike consumerism VS. bike tech dorkery

Does anyone have a 7mm carbon headset spacer I could have?

Not 5mm, not 10mm, 7mm?

As luck would have it, when I got my new fork cut, I have exactly 10mm of extra steerer tube.  So, I can't get any spacer excess for the top cap to clamp on to with 5 or 10mm ones (without putting another whole 5mm spacer on it which looks stupid).  Can't be bothered to cut the tube again, at least not until I get a 'proper bike service' in my LBS at the end of the season.

@adam

You could sand down a 10mm spacer to 7mm without too much difficulty.
Craig i'm interested in your sidis.
FREE stuff:

Look Keo grey cleats (4 deg float, new with h/w)
Look Keo black cleats (fixed, used but lots of life left, you will need to reuse your existing bolts)
Shimano 7800 bottom bracket (used for 2 rides on the trainer at most)
Arundel Trident carbon bottle cage (3k, glossy, well used)
Arundel Sidewinder carbon bottle cage (3K, glossy, well used)
ITM quill adapter (1" quill to 1 1/8" threadless, black, used)

NOT FREE stuff
Shimano Yellow cleats (6 deg float, new in packaging with h/w) $15
Shimano Blue Cleats (2 deg float, new in packaging with h/w) $15
Michelin Pro 4 Service Course 25mm tire (used for about 200 miles, perfect, no cuts)  $30 (NOTE: this is nice BIG 25mm tire, I would say probably closer to 27mm. I know they don't fit the rear of a Time RXR or a Giant TCR)

PM me

So what I have learned today is that those KCC members not engaged in endlessly tweaking, lubing and re-fitting their speedplay cleats all ride Look Keo with float.

A quick update the above post: Grey Look cleats are gone.

The amount of hand wringing on this forum about SpeedPlay problems and maintenance is hilarious.
The argument is pretty clear.  Number of posts on Look pedals vs. number of whiney moany posts about Speedplay.

The numbers don't lie.

Neither do the pictures

Spartacus doesn't chose nor service his own stuff. Don't be a tool.
I thought pros were given some license to choose contact points like shoes, saddles, cleats/pedals, no?
Spartacus is doped to the gills. His performance has nothing to do with pedals.
