I have the sidi dominators. when i got them they were a huge step up from anything I've ever worn before. super comfortable. the ratchet system seems to get a really great fit.
Now that I have Lake road shoes, I find the Boa system to be ever more comfortable. the leather seems a little more supple and the boa system really gets the shoe snug everywhere, not just across the straps.
one downside of the dominators is that the ratchet system gets easily clogged and malfunctions with lots of mud / dirt etc. and is kinda hard to clean out.

I have had Sidi road shoes for quite a long time. They are fine. But they are pretty narrow and if you have wide feet you might not be happy.
@perlberg: do you change your shoes when you go to the pit?

Hello all,
With my college classes progressing in intensity and difficulty I find myself making a difficult decision. Cycling/training will be taking a backseat for a while in order to free up some much needed study time. Thus, I have decided to part out most of my sweet CAAD 10 which I built up during spring break after having saved up for it for so long. It's pretty sad but it has to be done as riding it will be too tempting. I can't ride it this summer because I'm taking organic chem and other stuff... I'll be returning to my "humble beginnings" bike and maybe riding on the weekends.
So here's the list:
1. SRAM Rival brakeset - $65
2. SRAM Force Braze-on Front Derailleur w/ or w/o K-Edge Chain Catcher
w/: $60
w/o: $40
I can also part out the chain catcher, depending on whether someone contacts me first
Chain Catcher: $20
3. SRAM Force Rear Derailleur - $60
4. SRAM Red Shifters - $150
These took a bit of a beating during my slip last week. I rode them a few times afterwards so as far I can tell, they are still 100% functional. heck, I should be charging more for the character and hardman status of these shifters (I kid, I kid).
5. SRAM Red bb30 172.5 Compact 50/34 crankset (chainring bolts inc.) - $150
I applied some 3M clear bra on the arms cause I'm just a pansy like that, you can remove it if you want.
6. Thomson 31.8 110mm stem (10 degree rise/drop) - $60
and last but not least...
7. 2012 C-dale CAAD 10 Size 52 - $650
There are about 8 inches of steerer left on the fork and bb30 bearings are already installed. I just finished cleaning and regreasing le headset.
I'll be leaving these items for the forum to peruse for a couple of weeks, then it's all going to eBay. I think that everything is priced pretty reasonably but I'm somewhat open to negotiation. PM or email me for deets.

I hated orgo and in an accelerated summer version it'll be no fun.

@edwin: Perhaps you really need the cash. In which case, read no further. . .
I've taken organic chemistry. And I went for bike rides while doing so. They weren't necessarily that serious, but they were important for communing with Kekule and his dream of snakes biting their tails.
Organic will come and go. Cycling is forever. It's always a great feeling to get on a bike you love, even when your aren't doing Marc's crit clinics. Not so nice to get on a beater you don't.

@dstokes, i love all the bikes that i work on. my backup may not be as fancy as the caad but considering i wont be racing i dont rlly need it and im sure ill have an opportunity to build up something better when i have a real job. Although I don't plan on going cold turkey, I just know any riding I'll be doing won't require a CAAD10. And yes, cash has something to do with it

Edwin...your sacrifice will not be for naught....however I worry that it may lead to a team comprised of many dwarfs and a few giants...(I noticed Eric the Red gobbled up the Red Shifters...an example of size structured cannibalism & a double entendre)

Smaller individuals are often competitively superior to larger ones because of size-dependent scaling of foraging and metabolic rates, while larger ones may use cannibalism to counter this competition. i recommend that you sell expensive &beloved CAAD10 frame for BiG money post it online for $1100 and keep ALL your excellent components;
then buy/borrow a used back-up frame $375 from some one in the Club that has (14) 52cm BB30 road frames in their basement collecting dust;
then re-mount your groupo&components on ok/other maytag all purpose frame so that you are in for sat/sun&wed rides up 9W and in centralPark!
your components& the replacement of them is BiG! $€¥ ...&they make quite a significant difference in riding JOYs per # &in performance of any bikeFrame!
think about it!
i'm sure 'ericR' will understand if you decide to take the middle way.

I think that's a ploy to make you buy components. I used mine with 2008 Force before I got the Cannondale. And Mike has one too, and I don't think he's got 2012 Red.

The chainring ramping is different and you can't run old chainring on it because of the "flipped & pinned" bolt style. That said, it's such a good deal someone should buy it just on principle.

Yes on the ramping. Sort-of on how the fifth arm is sort of attached to the crankarm. You could file down the overshift pin on an old chainring--and you could also find something that could function as the overshift pin. Basically, I wouldn't worry about it. Ask yourself this question: how would it be incompatible? The teeth are designed to work with basically standard chains. The front derailleur doesn't touch the chainrings if you adjust it properly. So where is the problem? Some might point to the spacing between the rings. It might be a little different, but so long as the chain is the same, what could happen? It won't get caught between the rings.

does anyone have any 700c 25 or 28 tires that they'd be willing to gift me/sell me at superlow prices for my commuter? in fact, if they're 28s, they might not fit, so i would accept your most threadbare old tires for the purpose of assessing fit.
not sure which tires will fit. it's a 2011 caad8. calipers tell me front fork is 40 mm wide. above the current 23mm tire, there is about 6mm of clearance. each side of the 23mm tire has about 7mm. if that helps.

If it has the same fork as a CAAD10, the 25s won't fit. I found that out the hard way.
Having said that, I have one Conti GP 4000 in size 25 brand new, yours for free.

Yeah. I have 25mm Schwalbe Ultremo zx's on my CAAD10 now and I had 25 mm Conti 4 Seasons on during the winter. No clearance issues with either

That IS weird...25s should fit on everything except maybe some high end TT bikes. As was pointed out to me by my teammates this weekend, I need some new rubber and feel like going to 25s is the way to go from now on...
Plus, today JP bum-rushed my doorman who didn't want to let him and his bike in to our building and got all measure-y with a Fit Stick (no, not a euphamism) on my new CAAD 10, so I'm going to have to ride it eventually...

It should be the same as yours then @joe. I'm using the stock fork. I'm running 23s now and there's just enough clearance for it. I mounted the 25s before and it rubbed against the fork crown (there's actually some worn out section now on the crown, I guess I noticed it too late).

So I tried on the 25mm tire again, and it does rub against the crown. I thought ok, maybe it's just the rim I'm using (Neuvation R28sl), so I put it on my Reynolds Assault. It still rubbed. See the rub on the crown itself? Does anyone have any idea on why this is? Something wrong with the fork?
I don't notice anything bad with fork though when I'm riding (in terms of feel).
