Introduce Yourself, Post a Photo - Mugshots
Jorge Aguillo has a friend who tried to join Kissena several weeks ago by sending an e-mail to membership@kissenacycling.com . He never received a reply.I that the correct address or is it supposed to be membership@kissenacycling.info perhaps? In any case, is there someone he could e-mail directly about trying to join? (I don't recall who our current Membership Director is.) Thanks.
Thanks Jules. (It's not like you have anything else to do in life ... : )
Hi All,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I thought I’d post a little message and introduce myself. I was able to join one of the club’s Wednesday New Member rides a few weeks back and was really impressed with how friendly and welcoming everyone was (not to mention my being particularly taken by the new club kit… but that’s the superficial part of me talking). Following the ride I did the only thing that made sense and signed myself up.
I live in Fort Greene and tend to ride in Prospect Park, particularly mornings (though this morning’s somewhat frigid ride suggests that I may need to rethink my strategy for a couple of months). Outside of the park I always shoot for one ride up to Piermont/Nyack each Saturday and am slowly trying to build in one shorter ride each Sunday. All in all I aim for 150 miles per week. These are by no means fast miles, but over the comings months and years I’d really like to get a little better on the bike and maybe, one day, finish dead last in a race.
So I realize I may have joined at an odd time of the year, what with the impending cold. But I am going to attempt to cycle on through the challenging weather and would love to be able to hook up with the club on some rides either this year or early next. Until then I will keep my eyes peeled in the forum and will hopefully see some of you out there. You’ll recognize me by my pristine Kissena jersey.
Mark
Welcome. This is the perfect time of year to join the club and start building for next season. We have regular club rides on the weekend (usually Sunday) and you haven't seen what we call 'frigid' yet. Think frozen snot in Marc's beard. . . or maybe not. And we have an acronym for finishing dead last: DFL. Many, most, maybe even all of us have been there at one point or another.
Welcome! I agree with David, winter is a great time to join. The Sunday group ride up to Piermont/Nyack is actually healthiest with the most members riding when the racing schedule is thin (December, January, February, March).
sunday at an ungodly hour. (8am?). Three or four laps then cry like a
small girl.
Remember also volunteers are needed for both days!
