We did a little test tour from NYC to out to where our families live in norther NJ (65miles one way). That ride was to dial in our bikes and gear, seeing how the bikes handle weighed down and such.

About a month ago we did a tour out to Long Island. We took the LIR to Babylon and rode from there to Cedar Point (95miles) camped for the night and the next day rode to the tip of Montauk (about 45 or so miles). We took all back roads and side street. Over all very easy ride because of how flat it was.

Our next trip we're planning to ride from Morris County area in N.J. up to the Poconos P.A. Still working out the details on that trip. Hoping to make it a multi day trip and camp along the way.

I think it's super-double awesome that we've got so many new members joining all the time. Welcome everyone! I look forward to meeting you all on the road. Be sure you "troll the forum" frequently to hook up with other Kissena's for group rides, social get-togethers, bad jokes, equipment and training advice.

During racing season, there's a lot of chatter about the weekend's races, but there are always plenty of Kissena's who can't get away for one reason or another and are doing a group ride of some sort.

Hey,

I'm Lisa. When not getting completely dropped by a not-even-working-hard-yet Jules, I'm his wife, personal chef, and mom to our 2 helmet-obsessed kids. I'm also an ER doc, which happens to come in handy at out-of-town races when I've got my gear bag on me. I finally jumped back into the two-wheeled fray with the NYC Tri a few weeks ago and am excited to get my wheel back from Jules after the Tour of the Catskills so I can ride more with y'all!

Hey! I'm Keith, I'm new here. Just joined last week. I've been in the process of training for my first triathlon with Team in Training and really enjoying the bike training. I have a friend from work who races cat 3 for Kissena and get to hear about that on a daily basis. All of this combined was enough for me to show up to a new member ride then join. Hoping to get in on some group rides, get some solid practice riding in the pack (fast and safe) and possibly jumping in to a cat 5 race at some point for fun. Other than that, I live in Prospect Heights with my wife and daughter. I'm riding a lightly used Specialized Allez w/Ultegra upgrades I picked up a few months ago - my first real bike.

Funny note...I wore my Kissena kit for the first time this morning during my workout. On my way out of Prospect Park post-workout I thought I would be cool and do little circles while waiting for traffic to pass. After a couple of circles I started leaning too far and fell over. First time in club kit, first fall on my bike = awesome.

Hi all - I'm back looking at Kissena and seeing its still a great club for all riders. started with KCC back in 1964 as a midget ABLA rider (still have the old orange and white stripe road and track jerseys too'l, rode the original kissena track when it was actually smooth. Had a great team then and looks like the Kissena tradition continues though not from the old shop off of the LIE and 164th. Al Toefield would be proud. Still riding but now in SoCal and Hawaii - cold weather riding is for the young guys. I did my share of Central Park races in rainy 38 degree weather
