I'll be doing my own training camp of sorts at the end of the week and riding Weds, Thurs and Fri. Time and distance TBD. Thursday I may drive to start in Piermont and ride up Bear Mtn and back if anyone wants to join you are welcome to catch a ride or meet me.
John M. and I will most likely go long tomorrow in prep for battenkill 80mile ride in sight leaving early (we're talking 6am-ish as to get back by 11am. Probably will take back roads to orchards and back the traditional way.

I'm down - I'll ping ya.
Anyone up for a long hard one tomorrow (4/10/13)? I want to get up to the Orchard.  Love to leave 9:30-9:45.
Heading out tomorrow midday. Anyone? Anyone?
On Wed 4/17/13, I'm planning riding west to Skyline Drive for some extended climbing.  Expecting to ride hard there, climb, descend, turnaround, climb, descend, come back.  Probably rolling out at around 9:30am.
9:30 GW?  I'm likely there.
9:45 GWB.

9:51 and you have a deal.
done.

Awwwww sheeeeot! MF'n KEITH is coming.

9:45. 80 mile+ hammerfest. Be there, suckas.
JP is in shape. I am not. 95 miles and TWICE over Skyline rutted crappy climb road, uh, sucked.

Actually it was an awesome ride and weather was perfect and if I wasn't so fat he wouldn't have had to tow me around for 4 hours.

And I learned a new route. Which means I'll never be able to replicate his venture into random Jersey townships.

Where are the bath salts?

Don't listen to Owens, I rode a bit with that dude the other day and his is looking fit and trim. In fact for 1/2 second I thought his skinny self was Jules.

But yeah, JP is in shape. Can we collectively use peer pressure to get that dude to some out of town races before July so he can do some damage? Also, can we convince him that if he did do a Master's road race now and again, his junk wouldn't shrivel and fall off?

Also, Skyline is actually one of the more craptacular roads out there. Trafficky, ripped up shoulder. If it wasn't for the whole, 2-miles long thing, it wouldn't be worth it. There are some fabulous roads though right after Skyline that are worth the trip.
Where is skyline?
Also, can we convince him that if he did do a Master's road race now and again, his junk wouldn't shrivel and fall off?

I've checked. JPs balls are plenty meaty despite years of abuse in the saddle. I'm pretty sure he'll be find in a masters race, but I'd like to keep him with me in the 123s for the time being.
Skyline drive is a pass that goes from Oakland, NJ to Ringwood, NJ.

Here are the climbing stats:http://www.roberts-1.com/b/u/nj/hills/descrip/index.htm#Skyline_Drive

"Connects Oakland NJ (in northwest Bergen County) with Ringwood NJ (in eastern Passaic county).

Going south from Ringwood, there's an initial climb of 275 feet at 6% grade, then a downhill, then the main climb of about 540 feet at an average steepness of about 8% grade.

Going north from Oakland and Interstate-287 on Skyline Drive, I calculated about 610 feet with average steepness around 8% (though perhaps it starts gentler than that, then gets steeper as you go up).

Lots of motor vehicle traffic. The south end of Skyline Drive is an exit on Interstate-287, with several crossings of exit and entrance ramps required. Surprising to us when we tried it during the summer, we didn't get much view while riding on the road up there on the "skyline", or while climbing up in either direction -- just some glimpses on the way back down. [not checked by us since 2002]"

Both sides finish with a 14% or thereabouts grade.  The Oakland side is steeper for longer.

The bummer is that they grooved the pavement as you start down toward Ringwood.  This is for the cars, but it makes riding over 40mph a little rough.  when I was a kid, me and some friends got pulled over for doing 50mph in the 50mph zone it was.  The police was concerned for our safety.  On the plus side, the drop to Oakland is still relatively smooth.  If you sprint the first 200 meters, you can get up into the high 40s, and hold in the low 40s all the way down.

Heading out tomorrow.  Probably 70-80 miles.  RiverRoad, up Bradley, maybe watertower and back.  I guess that's closer to 85.  Anyone else not racing Saturday that wants to come, I probably won't be "killing it" except on climbs.  And on those, my "killing it" is closer to "donkey like".
Baby hammerfest quickie job tomorrow?  Gotta be back by 1, so probably just fast up RR to piermont and back.  Maybe bradley if we be quick enough.
Rolling out May Day, aka Wednesday, May 1, for a hammerfest out to the edge of Ramapo, NY.  It will be about three hours from the GWB.  probably leaving my place at 9:30am
JP,

Do the double. Heading out tomorrow for GW. Alpine, Bradley, watertower and lake road back over hill into Nyack (What do y'all call that one?).

9@GW
Ah, the double.

Tomorrow? Anyone? Anyone?
Anyone down for rr and maybe Bradley tmrw am? Leaving Brooklyn 8am ish
JPeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm still a bit chubs, but if you're up for a long ride tomorrow you probably won't have to tow me around the whole time on this one.

Please wear the mish-mash technicolor kaleidoscope prism random thrown-together kit.

Owens,
I'd love to, but I'm chained to my desk mornings this week.  Next week, I'm unleashing the Krakken.  Wednesday morning throwdown.

I'm wearing something right now that will make you smile.
That's just disturbing JP.

So can I see or what? OOPS.

Anyway, headed out with Keith if anyone else wants to come hammer.
i have a half-day tomorrow so am aiming to roll out from brooklyn out to piermont / nyack around 1pm.  holla if you fancy a ride.
10am@GW tomorrow. Sweatfest. 75-80 miles. Keith. Muffins. Rock. Paper.
JP? Pointy Patches? Tomorrow?
