Also note, we have other hotel deals available, (Candlewood Inn Suites, and Holiday Inn orangeburg), but as this is the least expensive, it's not really being advertised outside of the forum to give the members of KCC the best chance at it.  Holiday inn is near 100$ for volunteers ,119 for racers, with 6am breakfast 4pm checkout.  Candlewood is near 90$, but as it's a suite single bed only, and you are equipped with a kitchenette to prepare your own vittles whenever you please.  It is also farther from happy hour.  Just sayin.

Hey FB and Twitter users...big final week before our big event. Please, if it's not too much trouble, "share" and "retweet" any and all posts you see fit.

Hey Guys,

This Thursday afternoon I'm getting the registration stuff together for a little stapling, binding, and collating party in DUMBO.

Craig Zolan has kindly offered up use of his office at 55 Washington Street in Dumbo.

If you can join us, say around 6:30, it would be very helpful and we can make short work of it.

Reply here or contact me off list if you're able to pitch in. mperlberg@gmail.com

Best,
Michael

Not to pile on here... but... I'll be driving to Anthony Wayne from Upper Manhattan Thursday and Friday morning for course set up.  Course set up is a big job, and we can use all the help we can get.

I will likely have to do some real work in White Plains on Thursday morning, but I can come back to Manhattan if someone wants a ride.  (Or if anyone wants to experience scenic White Plains, you are welcome to come with me).

You can reach me at ftmclo@gmail.com or 516-639-6461.

If someone needs a ride Friday to help with course set up shoot me an email. I am planning on getting there around 10am.

Learn the wonders of expertly taping up a course. Maybe Myles will even let you play with his leaf blower.

Email me at livetoridebikes@gmail.com

I'm going to miss course set up this year. BUT....a couple of hot tips.

a) get some sturdy rakes. They actually work better than the leaf blower, especially when there is only one leaf blower.

b) get Myles to walk you through the "right side of the course" design. Before, well, before you start taping off everything else. Everything else is easy to figure following his stakes, but that part of the course whips and winds back upon itself and makes it tough to figure out.

c) no sponsor signs on metal barricades. Whipping winds tore everything down overnight and with bent metal feet, everything locked together. Nightmare to get up in time for the first races. Use the big permanent "infield" fencing.

d) someone think about the kids course design and placement please? Last year, I cobbled together something on the fly, at the last minute but it would be nice to have something ready/planned ahead of time. Maybe we can have it totally separate from the regular course so that kids don't have to cross the course as elites are warming up etc?
I would have to pass on the course set up since I can't take off from work.

@Mike P. I can help Thursday evening for the stapling party.
Should we be worried that Todd and I appear to be the only ones doing course setup with Myles Friday?

There's a very slim chance I can help on Thursday, but I gotta check with wife.

But yes, Patrick you should be worried. Course set up doesn't have to be a huge time-suck pain in the ass, but it will be with just 3 people.

As an additional request now is very much the time for all the kccs to start face booking, tweeting, tweeting, and chatting about the race. Final two days of pre reg are critical!!

Patrick - I am going to be on site Thursday and Friday.

So 4 people (we still need more!)

If anyone needs a ride up I am driving to the course Thursday, coming back to NYC Thursday night, then returning to the course Friday . Friday night I am staying in rockland but I could get anyone that comes up to volunteer a ride back to the train (and I can ask about housing )

Bump up for volunteers!

OMG Can I podium in the Club CX champs (probably not with a bum arm, but hey the percentage chance is good). Going to sign up now.

Only six people so far ? Anyone else signing up ?

Sunday - Kissena CX club championship (KCC members only) - 6 entries
Marc Bertucco New York NY
Nelson Martins North Arlington NJ
Todd McLoughlin New York NY
Eric Robertson Brooklyn NY
Gwynna Smith New York NY
Erika Tarte Brooklyn NY
You just ruined your chances Joshua. I just signed up!
cyclocross newbie question: if I do the men's 3/4 and get lapped do I get pulled?  or do I get to just hang out and do my own thing?
Just don't get in the way Brendan. Haha But seriously, I don't think you'd get lapped.

Every good official will pull and place racers. It makes for good racing. You'll still get results recorded as "-1 lap" etc. If you can hit -8 laps, you'll set a new KCC record.

Brendan, you won't necessarily get pulled. Keep racing until you get whistled off the course. I've lapped a few folks this season, and they were allowed to finish on the same lap as the leader.

But yeah, if you are getting lapped, you should move off the racing line as soon as safely possible. If I remember Myles' course from last year, there may be a few spots where you just have to keep moving and too bad for the dudes behind you. But for the most part, it's easy to get out of the way.
Can we day of the club championships?
Can we day of the club championships?
Yes but $10 day of fee.
I have room for two more people on Sunday morning sans bikes (sorry I only have a two bike rack) for those who want to volunteer for half a day. My race is 7:30 so pick up will be early.

Please come out and help the team!
I haven't been on a bike in about 4 months. Ill be making a guest appearance at Super Cross.
Forgive me for my old man forgetfulness, but have you been injured?
I have room for 3 with bikes for Saturday. I'm planning to get there early and stay late. Leaving from Brooklyn and driving through Manhattan.

We did some shuffling of the fields due to really really low pre-reg numbers in a few categories. Some fields will now start together allowing overall for a later start.

Check your start time carefully.

Also, sorry you missed pre-reg but you can start in the back and do fine. Check out the 3/4 field as an alternative.

Where are the new start times posted?
Bikereg and in the tech guide.
