All hail the new Kissena Cyclocross Club Champ!
And not for nothing, but Todd, I think is the only one besides Myles who worked the race on Thursday, Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday (of which the final 6 hours were spent, "crossfitting" iron fences).

Hey man, Todd is awesome and I know I was not in CX champ contention, but my butt was out there all 4 days as well.

I think I am just recovering now 36 hours later. Deeper thoughts re Super 2014 coming soon.
And you sliced your hand open bad enough to sideline you.  I heard Alice and your parents were trying to do your tasks and collapsed on the ground, mouthing the words, "too much super" as they passed out.

Plus, I still have jobs for Joshua...our Rockland County sponsor wants NUMBERS...and while I feel as though he personally is enthusiastic about the event, I think he's got some pressure to impress his bosses.
Hey Mike......do u have that picture of my front wheel?
Took a few photos from day 1, please tag yourself and your friends:

Lost and found - anyone find a pair of black warm up pants near start finish from Sunday ? Someone emailed in looking for them.

There was a big garbage bag full of lost and found. We put everything in the truck. Not sure if Myles took that bag out before he unloaded all to storage.

Add that to the list of "captains" needed for next year. Lost and found captain.

So, as one of the administrators of the Supercross FB page, I get to see notifications of likes and what-not. And not in frequently, a like comes from a name that I cannot read. As in, it is in Asian characters. I think that's pretty cool. Wonder how many other cross fb pages have such variety of "likes" and "follows"

Marc, if you like that, you should spend some time on the "Insights" tab. Lots of people from foreign countries post in English but you'd be amazed where they are posting/viewing from.

BUMP

It is getting to be that time of year again. We had a supercross coordinating committee meeting last night, and we're going to need volunteers; lots of them, so make sure you're not traveling to Grandma's in Kentucky on the weekend before Thanksgiving, so you can be here for the biggest event Kissena puts on. Look here for more info, but in the meantime, visit the BikeReg page and behold the glory that is Supercross.

@Dan Reiners Happy to help both days. Haven't read the whole thread here but any issues with racing on days we're volunteering?

Of course volunteers can also race! We'll definitely work with you. HOWEVER, you should know that depending on how much you work/what kind of work you are doing, you won't necessarily be at your best.

For example the last few years, I am often running around fixing course tape, raking huge piles of leaves, hauling up heavy barricades, minutes before I jump into my kit for a "race." Not exactly my usual pre-race routine, you know?

Super Cross cup is fast approaching the weekend of November 21st. Newer members may not know that this is a premier cyclocross race in the region and that it is one of the ways that our members give back to the club.

This post is ask you to take a day off from work Friday the 20th to help with course setup.

Setting up the course is rewarding, but we usually have fewer people wiling to take a day off from work. The past few years we have set up the course with as few as 3 people. This is not enough. We really need your help.

I have been part of course set up for Supercross cup for the past several years and I find it gratifying to be part of transforming a park into a spectacular course. I encourage you to take the day off from work and come help out.

Course setup is not a difficult job. In addition to taping the course, we hang sponsor barriers, move fencing, rake and blow leaves, etc. The challenge is that the sun sets at 4:30. We usually finish up using flashlights.

If you cannot help Friday then PLEASE volunteer on Saturday and Sunday to help with registration, marshaling, take down, etc. Dan Reiners will be posting more details how you can help.

If you have difficulty due to transportation, etc. let me know as we might be able to help. Bring your friends :-)

Respond here or email me at livetoridebikes@gmail.com if interested or if you have questions.

Here is the Volunteers sign up sheet with various jobs for the whole weekend:

https://www.volunteersignup.org/Y8F4L

Please go ahead and start signing up. Feel free to share these links with friends outside the club as ALL VOLUNTEERS race for free!

Also, all volunteers MUST complete the volunteer waiver here.

Note that there is also a need to help with course setup on Thursday if you are available to do so.

Ugh...the twitter is talking about Supercross...unfortunately we were called "Entirely Passable Cross" by a kind of influential dude in CX around here. That kind of stung. Please, please, PLEASE sign up to volunteer so we can spend time making "entirely passable" Super.

I'm all signed up for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday duties. Get in on this, folks! We need your help, and it's FUN!
Come meet Frankie Andreu on Friday, November 20th, NYC Velo in Hell's Kitchen.  You'll get to eat brats, drink beer, and chat with Frankie.  Do it!

I see that only 3 of us have signed up for the club championships. I would like to encourage all KCC crossers, past and present, to sign up to race the championship. This is a fun event, and will be more fun if lots of people race. More folks racing means more competition for all.
This event will be great!  Spread the word!  Also, Frankie Andreu at 7:30pm and "For the Love of Mud" viewing after.

Frankie? How about Laura Goddamn Van Gilder!!!

Frankie can serve the brats and pour beer. I want to hear from her!

Also, and I'm not entirely clear on what time it's happening, but I believe16-time National Champion, 3-time CX champion Todd Wells (Specialized) is going to be at Toga in Nyack that same Friday night. So if getting into the city doesn't work for you, you can still get a little Pro rider chat/For the Love of Mud movie watching on Friday night before the race.

Hey all.. I spent Sunday (with Todd and Josh) helping Myles setup several completely new and challenging sections for next weekend's SuperCross Cup. Lots of fun technical sections including the addition of an additional run up with a hair-raising descent... into a mud bog.

Holy s#8&! it's gonna be fun... but you know the drill... we are going to need volunteers.

PLEASE  sign up if you have not done so already. This is our team's biggest event and it needs a lot of manpower to get it done. Your participation will be greatly appreciated, but it's also fun to root for teammates, take in the atmosphere (tacos and espresso!), and if race for free.

Hope to see you there!

Anyone get any pics or video of the new sections? I'd like to tweet them out...folks go crazy over teaser vids of new sections.

Sean, you "disagree?" Explain please. Do you know something I do not, as in the event not happening?
Marc,

Had no idea I clicked that must have been a mistake. My bad.

Cool, just wondering.

Simply put, We need your help.

On or before Friday Nov 20th
-Gopro's, multiple, and assorted mounts.  Handlebar, and Helmet.  preferably with charged batteries.
-A tour guide, Friday Nov 20th, to utilize a go pro equipped bicycle with Frankie Andreu from NYC's 2nd ave location, over the brooklyn bridge and back, intrepid, perhaps freedom tower if time exists.   You_must_wear_club_clothing.

-A new or clean, freshly laundered current Kissena cycling club kit for a gentleman of approximately 6ft2 height, and a cyclocross bike for the same.  (Saturday/sunday use, approximately 10 minutes in duration)

I'm searching for the following KCC Members, or friends to:

-Volunteer help, onsite, Thursday-Sunday.   Yes, experience the joy of camping in the great outdoors.. No seriously.    We need some help setting up the course both Thursday and Friday, and then volunteer/spectating help throughout race weekend on Saturday.
Contact Patrick Grehan/Dan Reiners if interested.

-Lighter volunteer help sun pm to clean up and bug out.

Host Housing
-always a huge issue.   If any of you have leads for some in the area, please pm me.

Note we do have inexpensive hotel options for us, and others, but they are limited in scope.  I"ll have an announcement for those shortly.

Thanks!!  Going to be epic.
Myles

Being a tour guide sounds like fun!  Anyone want to join me?  What time is this tour happening?  Before or after the event?

@Myles I can lend you the KCC kit: XL jersey, fleece arm-warmers, XL razor bibs, lycra legwarmers.

I can help Thursday morning, but would need ride up and dependent on the specific timing? 7 month olds rule.

Unfortunately we made plans months ago for this Friday thru-weekend or I'd be there in a flash.

GO SUPERCROSS!
Just think " what does Frankie need to wear for his course pre ride?".
Thanks man
