Nice!  Keep 'em coming Mr. Roazen.
I had a sweet descent video that was lost to a jankey micro as card... Going to replace it tonight if I can.

I expect you'll re-ride it tonight as well.

California dreaming ....
The "Like" button just doesn't seem to do it here. I need a "Jealous" button.

I agree. I'm also very happy they are wearing long sleeves and leg warmers. I'd hate it if they came back with july level cycling tans.
It does not look warm. I feel such pity for them. Where is the pity button?
Yerba Buena today where Ryan slayed all and "Yoshi" aka "Don't call me 'Ali'" aka "French Diesel" put the screws to the rest of us.

Jeff "Whitey" White flashed his immaculately tanned legs with shorty short short socks towards the end and BOMBED the final descent while Ross and I worked together to try and pull him back.  Ever the poker player Ross unleashed some serious high RPM jumps that I couldn't hang onto and finished second to the uncatchable Whitey McDownhill

We left Ryan to take care of some "business" at a gas station... apparently he had a "job" that needed taking care of in the rest room... we're a no questions asked kind of crew so after a few sodas and a quarter pound of egg salad for French Diesel (that thing will run on anything) we pacelined back down the PCH.

Just shy of 3k calories for me, and a "suffer score" of 200

This is why I think pity is the right word.  Today, I rode farther, climbed more, burned more calories, and I did it from my home, so I don't need to send out my pillow, comforter, and mattress pad.  And I didn't need arm or leg warmers.
JP you climbed more than 7k feet from your home?

I think JP is trying to tell us he got really baked today.
Jules' data in strava has you doing only 5493'.  Last I checked, that was less than 7k feet.
Goddammit why did we even come here?

I don't know what's right. Ridewithgps put it at about 6,300.

FWIW, tomorrow is 8500 and Saturday is 9k (according to Ridewithgps)

Ms. Roazen's cooking? You boys aren't the only ones posting pics on FB making me jealous!
Ms. Roazen's cooking?

Yeah man she made homemade soda bread last night it was insane how good it was.
Did a solo Family Man's ride today; up Old Topanga and then across Mullholland (sp?) then up Piuma and screaming down to the PCH where I did a little of my "Kung Fu Hustle" to get home in time for lunch & games with the kids.  Just what the Dr. ordered (literally and figuratively)

Found a nice little sprint in there towards the end too.  Views were mind boggling.

Sounds almost as nice as prospect park.
almost...
Today's TSS:400. I bested all power records from 3 mins to 40mins these past 2 days.
Another glorious day out here on the "Left Side"

Ryan is slaying all comers and he and Handsome Joe put solid minutes into us on the LA version of Devil's Kitchen.

Yoshi hung with the studs for a bit and then blew his motor; I clawed my way up to his wheel but in the end he finished a handful of seconds ahead of me - damn his lithe hide!  Still, 295+ for 30 minutes on day 3 or 4 and I'm not complaining.

After a photo (and food) tastic stop at the legendary Rock Shoppe we headed uphill and saw Canadian Mike leading his bevy of Canadian National Team laides downhill - we shared a "holla" and continued on.

The hardmen continued north towards Decker while me, Ross & Whitey tapped out and headed down the PCH.  A pact was sealed on that trip; our destination was BURGERS, FRIES and MILKSHAKES which we found aplenty at Pier Burger.... mmmm so very, very good.  Almost as good as the rice cakes, eh?

Good times!

Hey Jules and company...

Enjoying the pics. Can you guys try to get some PowerTap shots, so that maybe we can still put together some kind of video package for CycleOps. #dreamingofthedayswhenwegot45%discount
As an aside, I've been recognized almost very day out here "Kissena! You guys are a long way from home..." Lots of good will for then orange and blue train out here.

Quiet day today; I took Joe up to Old Topanga while the other guys slept in for a more social ride; my knee was feeling a little off so I called "uncle" at the top and rolled home easy.

In all I've logged 240 miles, 10k calories and about 800 TSS

I'm ready for some recovery!  Great trip and HUGE thanks to Ryan for organizing two years running.  I'm already looking forward to KCCTrainingCamp2014 :)
Thank you to Ryan for organizing this and sharing his knowledge of the local topography along with his brother Kyle. All and for all a super experience that I recommend across the board.
I second Jules & Alyosha. Thanks so much to Ryan for organizing this awesome camp! Good things happen when you mix a little sun, bikes, rice cakes(!), and good people.

I'm not embarrassed to say I got my butt handed to me every climb by these mountain goats, but still had an amazing time none the less. Been on the bike 5 straight days, broke 200+ miles today for the trip: legs hate me, stomach despises me... Looking forward to next year! Good times.
... Also, a BIG thanks to Lisa & Jules for hosting and cooking up another gourmet–status dinner after the first big ride of camp on Thursday (kept all of us well nourished). Jules' magical bacon rice cakes also provided much fuel to keep going this past week. Gracias! Now time to pack & back to 30degree NYC for us  :(
It was a pleasure having everyone together, as it was last year.

As long as there are people who wanna meet up at Ocean and San Vicente to ride bikes in Februrary, I'm happy to lead the way.

If I may be forgiven for waxing philosophical momentarily, Ros's unapologetic admission of having his butt handed to him reminds me of the thing I love most about this sport: it is a never ending game of having your ass handed to you. All our upgrades through the amateur categories, our power records, and all that stuff - its good fun but it doesn't matter how good you are - as soon as you get better there's a whole new group of riders ready to hand you your ass.

Cycling is humbling that way. It reminds me that I'm not special. I'm just like everyone else. Its a beautiful thing, and it often feels downright awful. In fact, I am pretty sure that however bad Ros felt going up those climbs, the guys in front felt just as bad, if not worse.

We're all in it together!
