Joe, this is a perfect trip for you in so many ways. Don't let him take you UP Las Flores. Downhill is much more fun.
Ha, we're going up it this year, David! Anyway, Piuma is way more fun to descend than Las Flores.
@PatrickG I've heard many good things about this camp...I'm sure you'll have a blast and will be pushed to new boundaries!
this just isn't fair! http://www.weather.com/weather/right-now/USCA0821:1
BUMP

This is a great weekend. Let's get a few more!
@Alyoshas...Was there

...just yesterday
I'm in Marin county this second and I'm not complaining....
I'm 90% in for this, pending an L.A. crash pad.

Sweet!
Booked it. Visiting my folks in Phoenix on the way. That's three more days of warm riding!

Sat., Feb. 16, 2013 | New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty) to Phoenix, AZ (PHX)
Wed., Feb. 20, 2013 | Phoenix, AZ (PHX) to Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
Mon., Feb. 25, 2013 | Los Angeles, CA (LAX) to New York, NY (JFK)

All:

After speaking with many of you, the powers that lead this club and not for creating intra competition of camps (aka the CA trip Ryan has so generously again organized), I wanted to create a simple straight up 5 day camp that is easy in, easy out, low cost, low travel time for those who might be tight on vacation days, time apart from their significant other, etc.

Details:

FLIGHT

Feb

19th (early AM)- Depart JFK- CLT Airport- Return 24th

Jet Blue is $244 ticket (8:00am 19th Departure, 24th 7:15pm return)

LODGING

http://www.vrbo.com/130844

$909 for up to 10 people for this time period.  Perfect riding location. Owner is holding through FRIDAY for me to put deposit down. 4 bedrooms without sharing and we can go from there if more interest.

TRANSPORTATION

This part is a bit tricky with bike boxes, but I think we can get a large van for $700 for the entire time that would fit 4 bike boxes.

RECAP

If 4 people go this will cost $746ish plus or minus a few factoring in $50 per person for shared food at house.

if 5 people go this will cost $666ish plus or minus a few factoring in $50 per person for shared food at house.

if 6 people go this will cost about the same as 5 people plus or minus a few factoring in $50 per person for shared food at house.

HOWEVER

If 6 people go we will need to cars so I would bank on the 5 person price even as we can get 2 smaller vans.

WHY- This is some of the best riding for mountains (real ones), warmth, dry, bbq, etc.  We can get some good riding in for 5 days PLUS racing. I'm sure @harrybolick would be a great addition in suggesting routes, restaurants, etc.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY- Kick your race season off the way the rest of the Southeast does: http://www.hincapie.com/learn_more/news_events/spring_series/

These are great get the spring in your legs, some distance, some efforts, and a way to beat @Yacks when you return without being a pasty basement trainer flogging crazy man.

Message me DIRECTLY. I'm happy to go out on a limb and pony the cash for the house and car (if only 1 needed). I only ask that if serious you book a ticket POST booking. I've already booked.

Call me directly at 347-277-1027 with any questions.

Hope we can get a few folks down there as there are about 5-6 other U23 and elite teams down there that week getting together. There will be tons of folks to latch on to for bigger group rides too.

Sweet!!! I'm in.
awesome. I'm booking this evening TUES to SUNDAY NIGHT

No training camp for me, but let me say to anyone considering making the trip that if you go YOU WON'T REGRET IT. The riding down there is phenomenal. I moved a spare Bianchi to the area 2+ years ago (my in laws are just over the NC border in a tiny hamlet called Cedar Mountain) and ride probably 25-30 times a year. Even the short 1.5 hour loop near our house, which I sneak in on days when my "get out" window is slim, has about 2.5K feet of climbing. The roads/climbs/chow/beer are all well worth the price of admission. Post pictures!
7 laps (56mi) of this on Saturday 2/23!

p.s. 50min Crit on Sunday 2/4
Word. Elevation on road race is legit. See Greenville spring series website

Awesome!

I'm just starting to plan out this year's courses. Will be largely similar format to last year but with some key changes.

Bring your big boy pants for Friday and Saturday, because those days are gonna be serious.
so serious! yeaaaa let's kick it.
Looking forward to some warmth & sunshine in Feb!

grrrrrr...
I agree with Tito.
So Dorner is still at large out there but at the risk of making light of a serious thing... page 17 of his manifesto

he's duking it out with cops right now

I don't understand what the big deal is - a member of the LAPD shoots some innocent people, what else is new? What, oh ... oh I see ... he's off duty. Its only acceptable when on duty. Got it.
