Gilbert's frantic screams shouts asking about the gap were incredible. He was genuinely freaked out. Very humanizing, for sure.

5:16 Kevin Monahan in Breakaway skin suit is bridging.  Kevin grew up near me, eventually became 2-time USPRO crit champ.  He's the taller of the two breakaway riders.  the shorter is Jason Gould.  I think the third Breakaway rider is tom Davis.

Pretty sure Jonathan Page is in there as well in the Cannondale/wheelworks kit. That looks like him at the front at 19:34

The 1999 Liege is a good one to watch. I loved watching Frank VdB race - and it still remains jaw-dropping to watch him monster up those climbs on the big ring. Of course he - and the whole peloton - were juiced to the eyeballs. But for an entertaining piece of escapism while grinding away on the turbo - this race is perfect.

For me, the Pablo Llastras complaint was impressively harsh, especially considering how the other directors, Chente Garcia-Acosta and JL Arriete, didn't seem to have the same evaluation.  At the same time, what's striking is that I think all three spent their entire racing careers with Unzue's team.    

And Carapaz seems to be fooling himself if he thinks he's going to get such trust from Ineos with Bernal, Thomas, and Froome already on board.  

As for Quintana, I long thought Valverde mostly rides for himself and that is costly if Movistar really wants to win Grand Tours.  But then Valverde is the one indispensable rider on the team.  

When I watched it I was struck by how poorly that team is managed. It reminded me of a quote I heard once about the kind of people who buy airlines. "They don't want to run a business - they want to walk the runway in a leather jacket with a silk scarf and smell the jet fuel..."

My read of Carapaz is that he has made those comments to defend himself, however in the documentary he makes a statement which is along the lines of the money that Sky offered was too good to turn down....

The only part I didn't have extreme anxiety about was the section in the tunnel, but I had a moment when I thought he was going to Wile E. Coyote it, and just slam into a tunnel painted on the wall.

The UCI just announced the race calendar for the rest of the season. It actually came as a surprise. Worth noting a most likely rainy Paris-Roubaix in late October and possibly snowy cols for the Giro. I wonder if spectators will be allowed.

I am hoping most, if not all, these events happen.

Given the current state of the virus I am very hesitant on how they would be possible.

Bluntly, the measure that has proven effective against the spread of the virus has been quarantine. Unless other effective measures can be introduced for these events, they simply wont be possible without contagion.

-- Testing all participants and team crews, perhaps, could be such a measure, but how do you do it, how often? daily? randomly? how do you control fan crowds?

To state the obvious, this applies beyond bike racing.
