I would think it would be best with a Tinkoff/Saxo TdF style Camo edition of the KCC kit, but in a Realtree style deer hunting camo.
I came across this while looking for races near my parents. It was too far away, so I didn't even look into it, but damn does that look "fun."
I'm in.
Your move, Peter Sagan.

Got to work that into the off season cross training regimen.

I didn't know Bratz dolls could ride bikes.
One of the most graceful falls I've ever seen. I'm mostly impressed by the cameraman, though. Awesome work to get that footage.
dirt freckles in the morning. because is almost here.
Dang, when you take these awesome photos, I wish it was a current sponsor jersey so we can social media the crap out of it.  Time to take out the crop tool...
haha, dang, hint hint, if only I didn't have to pay full retail for a current sponsor jersey ;)
I have a large amount of 50th anniversary kit to sell cheap. Keep meaning to inventory and post it. If you're a size M ping me.

Fun.

All the same, I think you're missing something from your "long race" analysis.  Time.  You should add it to the chart.  My feeling is you can be competitive if you ride as long as your longest race.  I like doing that once every week (twice is better, atmo), but probably you could get away with doing it every other week.
@mugwump : Interesting point.  You think that saddle time is a good way to go about it?

I was personally thinking that work (kilojoules) would be a pretty good method. I only had power data for one race (the final one) so couldn't really put up much data in that regard.  The one race I did do with power 2740 kj, 72.28 miles, 240w average and took 3hrs11mins.  I think I will make a "Long ride pt.II" blog when I have a few more races analyzed.
was going to post the dam video but jules, ya beat me to it. so try this one

Adam,
I'd be interested in the KJ per race, sure.  And if you have TSS data, even better.  That written, It's almost certainly harder to get in either of those quantities in a shorter amount of time than a race when riding on your own.  Look at your average wattage, how often do you ride solo at 240w for 3:11?  In order to get the same stress on your body in less time, you'd need to ride harder during that time.

For as silly as many old-school training tips may seem, I think the idea of loading on the miles does have the effect of providing many, many KJ of work in an effort to simulate the stress on your body or build mitochondria.  When your job is bike riding, you have the day to ride, so riding long slow miles in the cold is a form of periodization--the race season was nine months long, so spending two or three months working on spinning and getting in the calories was just another way to get the work done.

Since one cannot always train at race intensity for the same distance, I've seen a number of "rules of thumb" using 120 or 125% of race distance as a guide.
Can you guys move this stuff to the Watts/Training thread? This one is for videos of people jumping off things with bicycles or crashing spectacularly. Thanks!

I smelled trouble as soon as I saw the aero bars.
That video was displayed on Bikesnob blog a couple years ago.
I never said it was for ORIGINAL videos of crashes and people hucking themselves off of other crazy stuff. Just not discussing snoozers like TSS and accumulated joules.
