This is amazing. I totally want the Fignon board game. I will make up my own rules so it may be a little like Calvinball, but with 1980's bike racers.

I love me some KCC photo glory but... four guys in the wind there is not super savvy unless you're blocking for someone up the road. Bruce looks almost out of the saddle with effort while the fellow six riders back is swigging one handed like it's a chatty ride.

Obviously some context needed, like "setting up a leadout for Whitey"

This was indeed the leadout for the first sprint lap. We organized nicely and had Jeff well protected but it was too early and we burned to many matches before the hill leaving him to freelance over the top and to the line. Luckily he was able to make a bridge to the small group of sprinters and take second.

The next one was much better in that we didn't take the front until much closer to the hill which enabled a couple of us to make it over and give Jeff a ride close to the line. Unfortunately there were two guys up the road just enough that we couldn't catch them. We just didn't have the horsepower going up the hill to control things enough to make it hard for the most determined to jump around.

A former triathlon teammate of mine just did Ironman Texas and saw a guy do the entire bike portion on a fatbike with aero bars. Over the 112 mile bike ride, he averaged 15.5 mph, finishing in 7hrs and 13 min. I would have at least put on road slicks.

More evidence for my theory that many fat-bikers simply apply the same maxim of four wheels to two: bigger is better, all the time and everywhere! *Of course* this was at an Ironman in Texas.

found these in my stuff.
Back before the web, before digital photography, the Victor Chan's of the world would go to races, set up shots where they could see your number, shoot the race, sort contact sheet images by number, and then send you a trifold brochure with those thumbnails.
a 5x7 was $8.95 in 1990.
This is three shots of me in the first turn of the Tour of Red Bank in 1990.  First race on that Eddy Merckx SLX.

The MTB scene was also active back in the day.  1994 Mt. Snow NORBA National....if you know what NORBA means...then you are as old as me
You would get a negative a few weeks after the race...and then "3-4 weeks" later get a pic

that's half mud...and half teen wolf hair on those legs...Even in 1994...red skewers were fastest

i've found that the Ustream links they provide are the best. by far the best buffering with almost no lapses for me in 2+ hours of streaming. nice big, clear picture too. too big almost. i stream it at work and when someone walks by i have to scramble because it looks like i turned my monitor into a television. good problem to have though...

Lance 2 man pace line. Lance has such a smooth pedal stroke. The other guy is bouncing around losing energy. No matter where you stand on Lance, he certainly is one hell of a cyclist.
