How does the Haka work with cycling shoes?
That would call that a "Claka."

Didn't pre-reg, but since today was cancelled, I'll be there.
Am I still the only rider for hte I/II/III?
yup

i am attending a party tonight and will be very drunk/hilarious&charming
yep racing tomorrow as well i think. i pulled some minor muscle but i should be there, will re-evaluate while warming up tomorrow morning.
I was thinking that I might race cat4 or Masters tomorrow --it's not on my official race calendar, but it would have been good if I could have made it part of my workout. Unfortunately, my cardio and legs are underwater right now. I thought my little 3hr. sub-tempo ride this afternoon would perk me up but it did the opposite. So, it look like I'll stick with Battenkill as race #1 of my season.

Of course, if my compression therapy and some quality sleep revive my systems, I'll probably roll up to the start-line tomorrow.

Good luck tomorrow fellas! Enjoy the racing!
Can we re-use race numbers for the spring series or is new # every time?
I'll be there tomorrow in the 3/4 field.

Dear lord...I don't know who told you that 3 hours of sub-tempo was going to "perk" you up, but you should demand your money back. I'm pretty sure even the cavemen ran like hell (either towards or away from prey), then rested. Run like hell. Rest. Run like hell. Rest. Run...

Unless you signed up for the ENTIRE series, it's a new number every week.
I'm gonna be there tomorrow. Also, I'm being completely lame tonight so no repeat of last time when multiple teammates started laughing hysterically when they caught whiff of my toxic breath at the starting line. You know who you are -- sorry for getting you a little drunk.

Everyone knows Dave Vollbach is one of our breakaway threats tomorrow, but not everyone has met our newest Cat. 3, Dan Hubbard. He is another, and he's pre-reg'd for the 3/4 race. Not sure if he trolls the boards, but we should definitely try to find him beforehand and make sure he knows we'll help him out however we can and that he should stay in communication with his new teammates. Lt. Dan, I'll make sure you two meet.

Looking forward to it fellas!
Il be there tom but Im not racing Im to sick to race!
Planning on racing, and WILL clock some miles after (instead of Chandler impersonation at Prospect Perk). We should meet 6.15 near start finish and roll around a lap and talk strategy.

It's going to be near freezing tomorrow and humid, I will be wearing lederhosen.
i think im gonna race in this kit: http://shop.vacansoleilprocyclingteam.com/kleding/60-vacansoleil-pro-cycling-team-outfit.html
as a tribute to flanders.

HULK SMASH

Malcolmson FTW!
The question is: by how many bike lengths?
Sorry I missed it! Spending the evening with @williamdc and buckets of whiskey got the better of me. Congratulations John!
You talked a big game last night!
Well done John and everyone else who came out today. We looked great.
Thierry,

Let us know how that shoulder turns out. Very sorry to see your wing in a sling today.

Gymkata!

Great race; another super result for our own Kiwi Philippe Gilbert, John "Gymkata" Malcolmson :)

John's class extended beyond the finish line to buying us coffee and a couple of wheat sodas at Building on Bond where we watched the finale of Flanders.

My race went far better than last week (OTB after a two minute, 400 watt self rope-a-dope) even though I barely made it to the starting line.

Yesterday I had to resort to "plan B" for training which was a valiant attempt to do 20x1 minute maximum efforts, with 1 minute rest. I only managed 12 and was pretty discouraged by the time the alarm went off.

Telling myself that I'd be pleased to *have raced* I bundled up and prepared for a 40 degree, early morning thrashing.

The start was pretty fast; I saw Aly head straight to the front (3rd wheel?) and managed so slot myself in close behind with Ryan nearby.

Very soon (second lap?) at the top of the hill a group of 4, 5 then 6 rolled off the front with Ryan in the midst; I saw who I thought was last weeks winner jump *hard* to join them, took a quick peek behind and jumped with him, making sure I was getting away clean and not taking anyone with me.

Granted, with 9 to go it was a steep task, but with 6 or 8 of us I thought it was possible. Sadly, it seemed like only me & Ryan saw the potential win, and the other guys either didn't know how to ride a paceline (FGX tall dude) or didn't want to commit. We stayed away for a lap, thanks to some stellar blocking but the writing was on the wall.

What followed was an impressive display by the team; we countered attacks, blocked, and countered some more. Once when I saw 3 riders up the road with neither a Kissena or a Hudson rider I sought out Aviv (a Hudson diesel) and said, "Anyone of yours up there?" He answered "No" so I said, "Ok, lets go bring it back then" and brought him to the front where we each took a couple of turns before they were in striking distance; they probably would have been brought back anyway, but it felt like a pro thing to do :)

Other than once inadvertently chasing a Kissena break (sorry! I couldn't see or hear the shouted warnings) I think this was the best park race I've been in from a team perspective.

I attacked again and again; got away with Mike Nelson from Arc for a bit and generally did my best to attack whenever a break was caught or when the group looked like it was hurting. My final solo move was a thing of beauty but by the top of the uphill I was exploding like a barge full of chinese fireworks...

Duly noted are Adam's new position on his bike (I honestly didn't recognize him!) and Whitey's sobriety. John, for the record not only won by a dozen bike lengths, but did it with shoes held on by packing tape and with a light on his handlebars. Corn cob pipe was apparently stashed in his jersey.

On the bell lap Ryan took the front and waved me up; I struggled in the wind to get there thinking we were going to set up the paceline early but he said, "watch out for John" with all kinds of cool. Gasping, I dropped back to look for John, but on the final trip up the hill there were some shenanigans, and I made a quick deke into the joggers lane which turned out to be the end of the race for me. I cruised quietly back to the start line and joined the celebrations (tinged sadly by Thierry's injury)

Numbers were about 1:15 at 295 normp, 1200 kj
Mike and Joe 1-2 in the pro race. I took 1st in the masters from the break.
Mullica rocks.
So today we win a park race and go 1-2 in Ronde Van Mullica.

Pretty good for a "club"

(as opposed to all the "elite teams" we compete against)

well, apparently Joe and Mike did NOT go 1-2 and Eric did not win the masters at Ronde Van Mullica

Sometimes its hard to tell when Ragot is trying to be funny, he doesn't always make it obvious
What day is it?

And Museeuw came out of retirement and won Flanders. Oops, spoiled it.
2Yacks. Nuff said.
Super bummed to hear Thierry was packaged off to hospital, that was a bad spot to go down. Anyone have a status update? Is his bike/gear sorted?

Second Jules's comments... proud to be on the team. That was pretty great to have Ryan cruising around (in what appeared to be second gear), calmly sorting the race finish like a Kissena concierge.
Props to Dan too for playing conductor of attacks... and thanks to all the team for killing it out there today, we were rep'd or initiated every break today—very cool. Here are a couple of pics from the post-race Flanders fest at Building on Bond. Also got to see old bike vet Booka's Kissena card (again).

And congrat's to Ragot, for fishing me in on that one... I'm assuming it was all pro and you got your ass handed to you? Results bro!
