That light on the handlebars however... it is not enough to crush your foes by many bike lengths but you must mock them too with my "I commute with this bike too..."

As you know, my bars slipped on the pothole section by the ampitheatre. The pictures are un-pro, even though Sean Yates preferred his this way. Worse was that getting out of the saddle was rather awkward. I think, as per Jeff White's comment, that the bolts were torqued below the recommended spec.

Torqued to spec today. Should be fine for a while.

Not sure, Jeff might be right. Jules and I 'were to spec.' but still had the same problem. I'm being tempted to set my bolts to '11' as suggested.

My favorite part of Saturday's race:

I'm sitting second or third wheel coming up the hill w/ 3 to go. I see a Scotto's in front of me and a Hudson or two behind me and figure that if I attack one or two might respond. I jump, and Scotto's responds as planned but not quick enough. I look back and he's struggling to bridge up. I look back again like, c'mon dude, and he gives me the cutthroat and shakes his head.

So, I'm alone.

Well, fuck it, see how long I can hold it. Training.

A couple minutes in I suddenly feel a hand on my back and I'm getting the ol' arm sling.

Who is it? Yacks!

He's bridged up to me, brought no one else, and its the two of us off the front alone.

We trade pulls and we're well out of sight and I start entertaining stupid thoughts of "what if this works?"

But, apparently Lance decided to make a bridge attempt, and that set off the pack. Two Kissenas and Lance up the road? No. John said they did 30 miles an hour until they caught us.

But it was sweet to see a teammate bridge up like that. Never been alone off the front with another Kissena.

Ryan that was sweet! I have had luck bridging to teammates on that hill before. It takes the uncertainty out of a move up the hill. When you have someone up the road the goal is to get to them quickly and pull through. Whereas if you are starting an attack on that hill alone, you don't really know what is going to happen. You don't know if you will be alone at the top, if you are taking a few guys with you or if they will work with you. I didn't know Lance tried to bridge...but in hindsight I'm glad he did as it probably hurt his sprint in the finale. Had we not forced Lance out of the groupetto, John may have only won by 5 bike lengths! GYMKATA !!!
After several weeks of masters racing and having Axis and Deno's toy with me like a cat with a three legged mouse, it was a pleasure to be in a field stocked with strong Kissena riders. Hat's off to Dan for pulling out of the race when he saw Thierry down. That was a classy move from a classy dude. Yac...wait for it...KATA!!

I would be remiss if I did not mention that Ryan did the lions share of the pulls in that cheeky move...by the time I got up to him I had started to spit the bit...

Im back in action for the 5s on Saturday morning in Prospect Park, cant make Sunday.
