Floyd Bennett Field

I blame the axis racer 100% jumped way off his line chopped the other riders wheel. Totally reckless. As always the guys who get hurt aren't the ones who cased the reck.
It looks like the Kosher rider starts to move to the right slightly just as the Axis guy is mid way past him... if he hadn't done that the Axis guy would have made it through.  Looks like the reason the Axis rider needed to keep moving left was to get around the next rider he was about to pass (in the dark blue jersey) who should have been visible to Kosher.

Seems like a fairly light touch of wheels... is that the usual outcome? :)
i made the same mistake the Kosher guy did once at Floyd and wound up in Coney Island Hospital...the guy next to me was handcuffed to his bed = good times.  I don't know the physics of what happens but I can concur that when your front wheel meets another riders rear wheel in a sprint, you become airborne.  If you are gassed...don't go near the front and be vigilante about protecting your front wheel.  If you start your sprint early have an exit strategy...you want to be left or right, not done the middle as you will get swamped and likely have your wheel swept.  I'm fond of going "Silverback" when I find myself in a dangerous spot...I throw my elbows out and start yelling about nothing and at nobody.  Irrational? yes....effective? you bet... nobody comes near my front wheel.
^Please promise a clinic on the "Silverback" manouver next year
I see the Kosher guy at more fault than the Axis guy and I don't really see the Axis guy doing anything wrong.  Field sprints are always something of a shit show.  Kosher could have braked and gone left a little bit.  He had room.  You can remain upright after tapping your front wheel to someone else's back.  If he'd taken evasive action he could probably have made what was a hard impact into a survivable light contact.  If there is one thing predictable about the field sprint scrum it is that the guy in front of you is either going to move around the people in front of him, or decelerate onto their wheels.  The real solution is to not have anyone in front of you when you are sprinting, and keep it that way until the line...
^ I love reading about all the things things "you can do" in the sprint.

It has about as much relevance for my racing as Quiddich tactics, but it's still fun to read about.

Starts April 2nd.

The Thursday night series will be run a scheduled, starts the first Thursday in April and ends the last Thursday in July.

This year we are proud and happy to have champion system as one of our main sponsors. The series will be named champion system Roubaix series sponsored by Roy's Sheephead cycle.

I have always been open to suggestions which where made by the cyclist that have
been supportive of my races. For the years that I've been promoting races. Therefore I have decided to make these changes to the categories for 2015.

There will be a Pro,123 a Masters only 40+ and a category 4,5. No category 5 will be allowed to ride in the Masters field.

There would be a leaders jersey in every category but only the Pro,123 and the Masters 40+ will have a green jersey Sprint. We will have a leaders jersey for the best
cat 3 rider in the Pro,123 field.

Also they will be a overall team competition for every category. This is going to be a fun season once again thank you for racing.

Horace Burrowes
Race Promoter.

Connie Sellecca....so hot
I would LOVE to do this race as my first of the year, but I have a board meeting thing this Thursday :(
Any road condition reports from Floyd?  this winter could not have improved the pot hole situation there.
The good news is that they do not bother to plow there.
Major kick in the nuts. Ask Yacks.

Love the place, it just never gets easier. It gets harder, like way fucking harder. It's like everyone went to Mallorca except me and 3 FGX bros.

Anywho, surface is great. Get some.
That is some straight up hard man shit...I was in a 13 man 40+ race that disintegrated after 2 laps...then got quickly shelled from the 1/2/3 race too...which  fractured into a caravan of tinkers & refugees wandering the course in the dark...looked like the zombie apocalypse.  In other words it rocked & I highly recommend it.  You are not a real bike racer until you've had your pride kicked down your gullet at Floyd.  Please get your tetanus shot before you go...as the winter has not been kind to the road surface.

NICE !!!!

I'm leaning towards doing this next Thursday... of course at the moment it looks like its going to rain for 6 straight days starting next Tuesday.. Yay April!
@Jacob, bring your 4-Season 25's if you do. This course is atrocious.

Of course there's not much you can do when Mr Floyd throws this at you:

Yacks, I always am MORE nervous, the smaller the field. Fewer places to draft, higher proportion of straight-up ass kickers. And of course, as you know, the negative consequences of smaller fields is just a thousand times worse at FBF.
i got my bibs pulled down and spanked last night...
Bailing on this week. The cold and threat of rain is keeping me on the Kickr tonight.
Kids have a slot car racing birthday party...so I'm out
Considering this since: 1) I have no racing scheduled for the weekend and 2) I have to check this race off the list of "Races I'll never do again, even if you paid me". Also, for some reason, the week after P-Roubaix all the shit NYC roads don't seem so shitty.

Who's coming with me!!! Yacks?
I'll be there.
Vlad is your Huckleberry...I get shelled like an oyster out there...also no one to watch the kids.
Avenge me lads !!!!!
yack
Seems like nobody does pre-reg for this ... so is the day of reg also $25?
Yeah, don't bother pre-reg'ing unless you absolutely must. Day of is $25.
