Yacks- you able to make this again this weekend? The Sunday route has more hills so will be even slightly more sadistic. Also, I need your Armstrong commentary as you are the only doping related think-tank that I trust and respect. I don't want to go back to NY Velocity.
I am in New Hampshire doing hill repeats (I am repeatedly running up and down the bunny slope next to my daughter who is learning to ski). Jules the Long Island triangle ride is not a 9W group ride. This ride is not punctuated by conversations about new Garmin computers, Strava records or frequent stops for scones & latte's. There are no views to speak of, sans the view of the Long Island Expressway service road and the guys wheel in front of you as you enter oxygen debt on some of the punchy hills. If you want to actually train, come do the triangle ride. But if your interests lie in what color the new Rapha rain parka comes in....stay on 9W. Yacks
Jules...5 hours to do 68 miles ? Did you take a detour and spend an hour in Dr. Ferrari's camper ? Woj is a legend.....a.... L E G E N D ! Thinking of going with the poor man's garmin/quarc set up....a cateye stealth 50 and a cycleops power cal. Power #'s are supposed to be consistent if not completely accurate = better metric for stress than h.r. alone.
Truth be told, I will be in BEAST mode all next season. Yacks
This train is off the tracks...having a bit of the old tendonitus in my knee. Too much intensity...too soon...not enough stretching and work off the bike. It has caught up to me. Last Sunday I did 55 miles and the combination of the cold weather and a slipping seatpost has harpooned my knee. I am treating it with ice, ibuprofen, rest and massage. I have an 8:00 am fit scheduled at Brickwell Syossett to address any problems with the bike...but the knee is pretty fucked. Can you ask Christian to go to the lab at Stony Brook and cook up some HGH for me? Have a good ride and one last thing....AVENGE ME !!!!!
I really enjoyed this ride - well, there was a certain amount of suffering . . . Ragot, Whitey, Christian, Adam, Bike Planet team and a peloton of 30-40 set out on a chilly morning. My numbers, which include a bunch of lolly gagging as we rode along the frontage road for the first 45 minutes or so:
