Howdy mates and happy holidays to you,
This is one finish line that I'm not eager to cross, that is my time as a member of Kissena. I'm so happy to have had the good sense to join-up with this club some five years ago. My sincerest, deepest thanks and regards to those of you who have shared your knowledge, friendship, humor, drafts, and spare muffins with me over these years and miles.
Please do give me a heads-up when you're in the Portland vicinity, and we can head out for a long ride, a tasty meal, and some stories. I'll be out riding and racing when I can --and surely a little faster with my memories of you as a constant tailwind.

Happy holidays to all of my pals in Kissena!
My Festivus airing of grievances started with a GIGANTIC middle finger to my genes for making it impossible for me to ride a 2-wheeler at even a moderate pace any more. C'est la vie. I'm enjoying some beautiful hikes up in the mountains in the meantime.
All that said, I've reached the inexorable conclusion that being part of this awesome club is actually making it harder to say a final, ultimate goodbye to turning pedals in the early morning mist in Prospect Park and on fun (and hard) group rides on 9W. And, really, does it make any sense to be part of a cycling club when you can't even ride a bike? Not so much. So, I'm also bidding Kissena a fond farewell at the end of 2013.
You've all been great friends and teammates, whose support, encouragement and coaching made me a better cyclist. A more fit cyclist. A better bike handler. Even a moderately faster cyclist. OK, not "fast". Somewhere between fast and plodding.
Looking forward to seeing you all in other settings, and I still plan to be a regular volunteer at many of Charlie's races in Prospect Park......and I'm always game for a slow food ride, or just a bar meet-up.

You and Jules are both pushing the e-bike route. I'm thinking, if I'm forced to use a motor instead of legs, I'm going all in, buying a Vespa and riding around in circles with a Cat 1/2/3 or Cat 4 sign on my back.

It has been a great ride for me with Kissena. From promoting the Club Championships my first season with the club, to winning club championships as a newbie and as my final act, Kissena provided me with encouragement, inspiration, sympathy, commiseration, and a hell of a lot of laughs. Kissena is the only cycling family I have known, but an opportunity arose that I could not turn down.
Starting at Nittany Cross, I will be racing for my long-time friend and clothing manufacturer, Dave Sommerville of Sommerville Sports. He invited me to race with his company to help him refine and test clothing among other things. It was an opportunity I could not pass up.
August will see me transition to Sommerville kit for CX. So my kit will vary between Sommerville kit and Kissena kit until then. I will be on the Forum until then as well. I do not expect to be a stranger to so many people that I have known for so long as my kit is changing, not my friendships.
I will still be conducting the CX clinic and if I hold another, I will let everyone know. However, I will be in alternate kit, so it seemed best to explain why beforehand.
