Is there a way to tag users who have a two word username? For example I can easily tag @Jules or @jesselash, but @Jeffrey White doesn't link properly.

@jesselash - There is no way to do it. In the olden days, Vanilla didn't support # or @, so we used our full names as usernames :-\

Question on name-dropping within the forum.  I assume it's supposed function kind of like it does on Facebook and act like a tag/hyperlink, but it doesn't seem to work that way.  Am I missing something or is this just a "fun" forum quirk? 

Often people will just use a person's first name (@Emily, for example), which doesn't do anything to alert that person that they've been mentioned, and leads to a "whoops" message if the name is clicked. Meanwhile when I'm on a mobile device I get an autofill that prompts me for the whole name (EmilyAtwater, for example), but then when selected the name is not hyperlinked in the final post and ends up looking weird (@EmilyAtwater).

Aaaaand if I had read a little closer I would have seen that someone already tackled this question super recently. 

However I still have problems with the autocomplete working properly for me. 

@EmilyAtwater - Tagging people has worked only for very brief, sporadic periods for me. It does not work for me now. I also get auto-complete only on the mobile client and it also ends up doing nothing for me. I think you'll be a happier person if you just ignore the functionality.

Or ignore the non-functionality. I think you hit the nail on the head: it's just a fun forum quirk. Somewhat akin to our hash tags: #everydayiaddsomethingtothelistofthingsthatpissmeoff

A'ight, fair enough, I'll roll with it and settle for the times it works.

Probably opening a can of worms with this one... but have we considered switching to less terrible forum software? e.g., http://www.discourse.org

Anyone else getting the forum login screen every few hours?

I am.. everytime I hit the back button, i'm back on the log in page. Both on Chrome and Explorer.

Weird, if I hit the "discussions" link once it takes me to login, if I click it again it takes me back to discussions no prob's. Repeatable on FF and Chrome.

Same here and it's getting kind of old.

They haven't recognized it as a bug on their status page, but Vanilla's help forums is showing that they know about the errors and constant logging in/out issues.  Fix is supposedly coming end of week...

Turns out vanilla's sites run on nginx servers, so there's that [heartbleed attacks?; though they never offered the extension]. Doesn't actually matter for us, we don't use SSL. Know that when you're authenticating every 5 seconds. Why aren't we using SSL?
