Last follow up. I responded to the initial poster with the new intel, they say:
I am in the hospital w him
He has 6 broken ribs.
Also a broken right arm
I was with him when it happened
We were on the main roadway
There was no tape or construction zone
Anyone who runs and rides in park knows that
The mere idea that a leutenant is saying is ludicrous offensive and insulting
I am glad I took pictures from beginning to end
I have pictures of the twine
The tangled bike the 8-10 cops standing around etc.
There was thick twine tied from a hydrant on one side of the roadway to a pole on the otherwise of roadway that was not there the first 4 loops we did
There was also a rider who reported to the police seeing 3 suspicios looking people laughing and hanging around that exact hydrant just one loop before the assault!!!

If this really happened, you can bet the mainstream news will report on it and fact check. Right now we don't have any credible information.

I find suspicious the use of suspicios.

For whatever it's worth, I was out riding on the Park last night between 9:45 and 11:00.  I didn't see this

I wonder if the reporter was able to fact check the injuries.

Yesterday, I did a second descent of E. Clinton off 9W (which we as a group had done earlier that morning), and had to slow way down.  Cop cars, ambulance picking up a cyclist strapped to the stretcher.  His bike was down in front of a car and it looked like the car had been driving in the opposite direction up the hill and turned in front of him.  He was wearing capo kit - I didn't recognize him.  He was conscious but having a bad day.  That's a fast descent and can be super fun, but not when going over a hood at 40mph.  I'm going to throw some extra caution at that downhill from now on.

There was a bright yellow rope attached to the fire hydrant IN THE PEDESTRIAN LANE next to/inside the construction zone.  The cyclist rode through it and got it tangled in his spokes and went down.  Cuts & scrapes, not six broken ribs, etc - not a malicious prankster.

If you happen to see a blue steel Nishiki beater, bull horn bars with red grip tape, red tires, RB sticker, in Brooklyn and not being ridden by yours truly - please ping me. Swiped outside of Ride yesterday afternoon. No, I didn't lock it up. Yes it was a dumb move. I was only inside for 5 minutes. I didn't think for a second anyone would deem this piece of junk theft-worthy.

Just caught a hipster to the front handlebars... Was stopped at a red when a tight-panted dipshit with no brakes came flying through the (blind) intersection and turned right into my grill. No damage other than my beautiful yellow VanDessel bartape. What followed was kind of funny: Me, "Seriously dude?!? In a blind intersection?" Him, "Blind intersection?" Me, "are you wearing a number? Are you in a race?" Him, "In a race?" I *almost* busted out "Say 'what' again!"
