Queens.  Charged with disorderly conduct penal law 240.20(5). Unusual never seem it charged before or since. Must've really pissed off the cops

Edit to be clear it's a violation and not a crime but still person was custodially arrested (!) 

Wait, so the actual charge was disorderly conduct and not riding in the middle of the street right?  I know that if a bike lane is provided you are technically supposed to use it exclusively, but otherwise cyclists should be able to just ride down the middle of a lane.

Or was riding down the middle of the street considered disorderly conduct?

A couple of years ago, probably longer, Kissena Keith Snyder had a gun pulled on him in Rockland county.

Disorderly conduct has seven different subsections one of which is 

"person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof:

@Scott Kuhlke caught a hidden rock this afternoon heading down river road and we both ended up going down. 2 cracked helmets. 3 flat tires and a bit of road rash later We wound up safely headed south on the A train. Huge shout out to @Todd McLoughlin for helping us with the flats and escorting us back into manhattan. 

Thankful the leaves were there to slide on and we both got away relatively unhurt.

Nothing prepares us cyclists for freak accidents like these. We all are glad that you are both OK.

Yikes! Wishing you both speedy recoveries. Glad someone was on hand to help. All crashes are the worst but these types of seemingly random training ride crashes are their own special type of bitter pill

Hey Team, figured I would write.  It's been a few days now.  I never saw it.  Garmin said we were rolling at 28 mph while going northbound on River Road.  Went down hitting either my head or back first and did some sliding.   I immediately popped up, walked up the hill to see what I hit, which ended up brick size rock and about the same color as the leaves.  I didn't realize that I had taken Sean out until I started walking back down the hill.  The adrenaline was high and frankly, it could have been much worse for both of us.  I'm extremely happy that we both got away without any major injuries.  Very fortunate that @Todd McLoughlin was riding the other way, got us back together, and led us to Manhattan.  Much appreciated.

I never lost consciousness during the crash or afterwards.  I thought, "wow, cracked (upon further inspection, shattered) helmet, got away with one."  A few hours later though, after I returned to Manhattan, dressed my wounds and dropped my bike off at Redbeard, there was a noticeable shift in my personality.  I became very noise and light sensitive.  My reactions really slowed and I slurred my speech a few times.  My GF took me to CityMD Sunday evening and Doc said I had the symptoms of a concussion.  I slept 14 and 16 hours on Monday and Tuesday.  I was able to book an appointment with a neurologist yesterday and get a CT scan.  The CT scan came back negative and the doctor noticed improvements in my speech inflection today.  I can feel myself getting better.  I'll get back to 100% soon enough, but it may take longer than I expect.

So here's my PSA:  Listen to your body after a crash.  If you don't see a doctor immediately after the crash, and things don't feel right, see a doctor ASAP.  Don't be a hero and "push through".  You can get a concussion without losing consciousness / blacking out.  While a doctor can't do too much once you have a concussion they can hopefully identify or rule out anything worse.  It also does put you in a better frame of mind to plan out the rest and recovery.

Ouch. That sounds like a rough go Scott. Great to hear that your helmet did it's job. Shudder to think what we'd be reading now if you weren't wearing it.

I had a pretty bad concussion back in 2010 and it took a long time to get back to normal. Be forgiving of yourself while you heal.
