I thought the commentary was pretty good. Of course, it could be improved, but it is as good as it is gonna get in the US.
The amount of cameras, direction, and camera work has brutal amounts to improve. My guess is that they hire local camera people, which of course don't have any knowledge of the sport or lead players. They could be better guided and directed. Guessing too, that cameras and camera people are expensive, so that's as few as they think they can get away with.
Considering the conditions, some things worked ok, audio and video did not drop, for example.
A bit of better planning, script, agenda would go a long way.
I am a bit more frustrated with the few elite/pros that are complaining that the conditions were too hard/harsh. Altho, who knows, maybe they have a point -- the course was so destroyed by the time they get to race, the race becomes a sort of free for all.

i agree with everything you say there, i Kind of get what the pros are saying ,i was watching Zonhoven last night and thought occured to me , that if that circuit was in the US , the pros would of been dealing with a whole different set of conditions and was wondering if that impacts the US riders when racing in europe?

I thing USAC needs to embrace the things that make US CX special - not fight them in the futile hope it'll somehow become European CX.
Yes, age groupers are going to race first, and fuck up the course for the pros. Those same age groupers are paying for the winners purse, so STFU to the folks who complain. European CX is always there if they get tired of being cheered by the folks who just rode the course.

Myerson and Chabanov both were cut at Supercross and they won their age groups. Aspholm was second in his to a former world champ and he did great at Supercross. Stacy Barbossa also raced Supercross and won her age group. The only surprise was that Kerry Werner, second at Supercross couldn't convert his form there to nationals success.
Just sayin'.
FWIW, part of the deal with CX is that different courses yield different results. This was a particularly muddy year in the northeast, so locals were well-prepared for muck. Folks who raced in drier conditions were not. Thems the breaks. To me, complaining about the course is like Cavendish complaining that a Worlds course is too hilly.

But no question, Supercross had basically the same conditions, and that having raced there would be an a significant advantage. Once conditions cross a threshold, and supercross and elite nationals were waaaay past it, it becomes a mental game. Stybar made his return today at Zolder, to an unremarkable 21st, 2:48 down. Even Hyde had a better finish at 17. Here’s hoping both improve towards worlds.

I was planning on ending my season at Rainey Park (which was loads of fun), but couldn’t help race LICX on Dec 16 and 30th in Sunken Meadow on Long Island. I am so glad I did.
The course is much better than it was in prior years. Lots of fast, flowy and technical bits. Prior criticisms included the course being full of leaves and the course being taped up primarily through trees. The promoter upped his game and created a course that was better than many I’ve raced this year. I spoke to the promoter Greg who just had twins this year. He plans to have an earlier race next year after Thanksgiving. I encourage you all to give it a shot. Not only because it is a lot of fun, but also because you’ll usually get some good crossresults points which is good for staging next season.
Bobby Peras was out there on Sunday and had a good race in the 5s. Luckily his family was there as the zipper on my skin suit broke 5 minutes before my start. His wife quickly helped me pin my number to my blue warm up jacket I had in the car. As you can see in the pictures I was having fun.
