Cyclocross!

Looks like my race would be to early to make the @AndrewJohnson van to Cheshire.

Anyone have room for one more to Caffeinated (12pm race)?
I'm in the 3/4 and the Single Speed. My plan would be to get to the venue by 9:45 so I can get on course at around 10:17 to check it out. If not there are few long windows to pre-ride before the 3/4 race.

James, if we can find one I would consider sharing a zip car to Caffeinated, I would race at 10:45 am -- altho, maybe I could be convinced to race at noon.

My only option is the 50+ race since that my wife is flying to Atlanta during that day and I have to be home to take over family duties.

Thierry, could I please drive down with you? I would too race the 50+
I'd be happy to share a zip car to Caffeinated and don't mind leaving way early in the a.m. if necessary - I've got a car on reserve already.
I received confirmation that permits for Long Island CX at sunken Meadow were approved for Thanksgiving week-end. I included the dates for n the club cx spreadsheet. It’s not on bikereg yet

I feel like unless you have other plans, there's no reason not to race here since it's in our backyard.
Can anyone help me get the orange chip?
steeplechase.
Hope you won at trivial pursuit
This was somehow the winning question in the teachers vs students game club championship. It was fate!
Former sometimes Kissenista and definitely former Canadian CX champion, Mike Garrigan has a kickstarter for cyclocross specific clothing.

The stuff looks amazing. Consider supporting him if you can.

relevant, GCN video released today, washing your bike at a petrol station

Would I spray a degreaser that contains most likely heptane in the confinement of my shower? I don't think so.
LOL

How was everyone's cross weekend?

I did Cheshire CX, saw @AndrewJohnson and @AnthonyOtt after their pre-ride as I was about to head back home.

My race was at 8:30am in 32 degree weather and it was hella fun. The course had a double sand pit in an S curve, grassy 180s covered in frost, an optional mud mound, a steep power-draining stepped hill (needed one more gear on that one), and another loong but ridable hill lined with hecklers. Got my best placing so far (12th of 29 in cat 5 field), but there's lots of work to do on skills, especially the remounts.

Anyone doing SCCX?

Remounts continue to be my largest struggle too! No races for me this past weekend - rode cunningham on Saturday and then did the marathon pre-ride ritual on Sunday. I'll be racing the next three weekends though.

I'll be at SCCX, my first race as a 4. Shall see how it goes! Keeping expectations low and aiming not to come in last.

I am loosely planning on SCCX.
I enjoyed your race report @AndrewJohnson via your blog.

Thierry and I ventured to Mullica Hill, NJ in search of the cyclocross. We found it in the Caffeinated CX Masters 50+ field.
  • This course is simply awesome. Super flowie, but also with classic technical cyclocross challenges
  • Course reminded me a bit of NoHoCX (but no sand, and perhaps a little more technical)
  • The first half was super fast power pedal yeas and the second half was classic technical, up downs, 180s, loose grounds, including a set of belgian stairs and a super steep bump hill, both borderline ride/run, both crucial
  • 30ish racers
  • Thierry was 2nd row, I was 3rd row -- he's got them NJCX points I got none
  • Bertucco & Strika were also in there somewhere
  • My race was ok, but not amazing...
  • Stuck in first lap traffic had to dismount on the bump steep hill, payed for it with a bunch of places
  • Later in the race would also mess up a remount after the stairs
  • Heading into the race, I knew that rest would have been the wiser option, but my nemesis turned cyclocross buddy Barry Jones puts this race on, so wanted to support.
  • finished exactly where crossresults predicted, which is well, not awesome, but kinda expected. There's always next weekend for revenge, right?
  • Overall, can't speak highly enough of how cool, good, intense, and true cyclocross this course was.
  • Honestly missed you.
As of today, my next weekend looks about 30% chance of NoHoCX vs. 70% chance of SSCX. Teammates will move me one way or the other.

Let's go race bikes!
@eloy.  After racing CT I think my better choice would have been Caffeinated. I raced it last year and if it was similar I think I would have done better. Oh well now I know about Cheshire. SCCX I've raced several times and I think I have the option of doing well. If I go I will probably sign up for both fields I qualify for: Men Cat 4 or Masters 40+ 11:10am and 1:20pm Masters 4/5 40+.
I'm in for SCCX.  Flexible on the field.

Want to hitch a ride with me? And hopefully @AnthonyOtt ? The good news is that my two racing fields are closer together with the Men 3 and 50+ in the middle... So we would not be there terribly late.
Hopefully I did my chart correctly for SCCX. Ideally I'd do the 11:10AM and 1:20PM races. And would like to be there to pre-ride the course around 9:50.

Hey @AndrewJohnson Do you have room for one more? I'd do the 1:20PM race

@James Reeder So far so good.  Where do you dwell?
Brooklyn, but can bike up to the LIE at Greenpoint Ave if that works
@James Reeder Greenpoint ave works. We can touch base later in the week to figure out where to meet, though it seems from street view there isa  Mobil Gas station that might work?
yes - that works! I'm at cjamesar@gmail.com
